  2. For more info take a look at UK&I Championship 2009 - UK&I TCC 2009 :: Events :: ISA UK&I Chapter Have still got to finalise some finer details, but kit check will normally take place fri night. Anyone lurking that is interested in competing but not sure of the format / rules etc, we are running some training sessions during the week prior to the comp. Please see attachment for details and booking. its open to everyone. workshop.pdf
  3. Hey ed, A good use for your apline...throw line in and install a rope. if you want a floating anchor (dont want to go to the top but still use the advantage of the high anghor) foot lock up, ascenders etc until you reach the branches you need to work on. strop in and tie an alpine on each side of your access line. Clip in a karb into each alipine (revolvers are good) put your climbing line through both karbs and go to work. At end go down as normal pull climbing line out and then pull access line out (good point to use smaller karbs to avoid tight forks) You dont need to go back up to retrieve this floating anchor. Works well on things like crown lifts or a few branches to work on and saves a lot of climbing.
  4. If i can get stuff sorted for the UK finals before hand, i'l be heading out for the weekend.

  7. So here is the date for your diary.. 30th/31st May 2009 To be held in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. Loads of info to follow, but save the dates! Its going to be a fantastic competition to kick start the season, everyone's welcome. Hope to see a lot of you there.
  8. If you plan a trip to the south i can assess it. MEWP provided too. PM me if interested. Cheers
  9. Your NPTC assessor cannot refresh you, only a registered instructor...unless you have a re-assessment, and re reg costs and i doubt you want that. have a look at the leaflet that says its a recomendation on page 3. http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg317.pdf Its a recomendation, so its up to you. sure your insurance company will take your money even if your tickets are out of date but they dont shell out so easy if you have an accident. your choice. one last thing, just be aware any of you out there that have the old units, some of them eg like the felling, are not up to date as you may not hold relevant parts such as hung up trees, or technical cuts. Things change, updates aren't a bad thing.
