  1. Heres those pics of you Ross on todays job. Thanks for you,re help mate.
  2. Moi, I,m one of those old fashioned gits, I,ve been so wrapped up in my own little world for years. I saw some of the fandangled gadgets on my climbing course, even tried the instructors lockjack. I am really stuck in my ways, I like the simplicity in using both ends of my line. I learnt the basics from Jeremy Ault, anyone know him ?
  3. Paxo might help, try sage n onion.

  5. Is there a better Vietnam war film ?[ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfE2wyRiLK4&feature=related[/ame]

  7. Keep on feeding em John, they,ll soon find the food source. It takes em a while but they will find it.
  8. Well done! You,ve just saved me from Coronation St. the Mrs. will have the right hump Well done on the bird front, I paid £1.30 today for a half dozen eggs.
  9. Hahahahaha I think I,ve seen him before on crimewatch. Quick Dave call the police.
  10. I always leave the clutch in situ, put a piston stopper in the pot then one end of the spring in place then a wire loop pulls the other end in place. It,s a pig of a job and I,d love to see some pics of any other way of doing it.
  11. How do you replace 020 clutch springs, I mean is there an easier way other than doing it with wire and pliers ?
  12. I aint arf glad I bought a proper one instead of a Landy. Feast you,re eyes on a proper 4x4 lads, hahahahaha:laugh1:
  13. Wrap up warm you northerners, I know you,re all a bit soft when it comes to the cold. Get plenty of you,re staple diet down yer necks (black pud), make sure you wear you,re flat caps and you,re whippets have their coats on.
  14. Dont forget to put something out for our feathered friends.
  15. Well to start with the housing association take 20% tax at source, so I got £840 put into my account. Takeaway wages, you,ll have to work that one out as I do,nt want to say what I paid Rich and the other bloke. I know I,ll get a little bit of that tax back in a year or so. Takeaway £140 for the original pre christmas site visit. Wear and tear on tools, insurances etc. My net profit for the job is around the £400 mark. Sounds nice if you can earn that day in day out but we all know it doesnt work like that, on the other hand my wife and I worked one full day with Rich last week, took away 2ton of chip and wood and only grossed £200 profit. My fault as I my quote was too low. But saying that I won the job by being £20 cheaper than the next quote.
  16. Keep you,re eye on the weather Rich, it does,nt look promising for tomorrows job.
  17. Do you really think I dont know what it,s like ? As soon as you move away from conifers it,ll clean itself. Like I said, "never cleaned a rope in my life". But if you,re happy with petrol then so be it.
  18. Use nothing except warm water. I,m amazed at the answers so far, petrol, detergent and jet washing I thought it was common knowledge only to use warm water.......in anycase i,ve never cleaned a rope in my life. What a waste of time.
  19. Here are some pics, the customer has been reported for building a summer house for his kids and when the council made a visit they said it has to come down and all the decking may have to be taken up if an independant tree report was,nt in his favour. I feel for the fella cos he,s spent a fortune and it all looks fantastic. I can understand the councils point of view on the first Sycamore if it had,nt been damaged in previous years, but in my opinion it,s unsafe anyway and should be removed.......Youre opinions gratefuly received.......As for the Hornbeam and Sycamores on the boundaries........Again, opinions gratefuly received.
  20. What would you call enough, I reckon £80-£100 what do you think ?
  21. I wont know the full story until Saturday Tim, perhaps I,ll be able to answer you,re question then.
  22. Hahaha, you have a better physique but I,m not sure about that red beard Stevie lol. It may be a bit risky, but it,ll cost me nothing to have a look and even if I pass it on I will leave him a nice shiney business card for any future work he may want done.
  23. I know John well, he is one of two people that I usually pass this kind of work to. I do have P/I insurance which is why I thought I,d have a crack at it myself, that and the fact that I could ask advice on here. I will look on Saturday and then mull it over.
  24. Is that you JJG ? If so may I suggest any shade of orange for you,re complexion. And those shoes!....Brown n Green.....never be seen.
