  1. Show us ya van Sorry for the slight derail
  2. Yeah for sure . Although it comes to something when you have to make an on the spot decision as to whether or not this is a potential real customer
  3. Your on the ball there fella nice one Suppose thats where you get yours from
  4. Only if it came in another colour . I dont like blue 8mm poly prop its the future so versatile . Washing lines , string lines , bracing , guy rope
  5. So know one used polyester then .
  6. Happens all to often . Last year a guy wearing full stihl ppe asked our young groundy for a card as he wanted a tree taken down ? I ve even given cards to people and later found out that they were touting for work saying they were me ?
  7. Theres good and bad in all
  8. I only put this little thread up just to show how cheeky some people are .
  9. Throw line weights on both ends. Sometimes if I,m only removing a limb I will use the throw line over the target anchor point . Pull up a single line with a pulley attached . This pulley will already have my standard climbing line set through it . Then pull your whole system up to the anchor point and tie off the single line round the trunk . Mind you I dont half mess about with some stupid ideas . Throw sacks old ones stitched if past that they just get binned .
  10. Thought about that but having revisted the site the other day . Theres no way . Anyhow the developer is going to buy it and he knows this . Even seen some barbed wire coming out the ground well rusty
  11. Just wondered if anyone was using polyester . pros cons . I know the 30% stretch sounds bad but the nylon line will be pre tensioned . Will not be shock loading either .
  12. Cool enjoy Regarding the thermals just do your normal and put your fish nets on Let me know how u get on .
  13. Hardcore Prawn ha ha ha . No nothing as yet regarding the golf course . You sorted work yet ?
  14. Got a big smelly dirty Pop to come down soon its even got its own lake round the base . Not to mention all the muddy grass . Still its in need of rigging down as theres a listed building ever so close . So I dont want to mess my decent lowering line up . Choices are 16 mm 3 strand Nylon 30% stretch Breaking load 5300kg . 16 mm 3 strand Polyester 10% stretch Breaking load 4766kg . Prices are similar with nylon cheapest . Will be factoring this rope in the quote . Why 16mm well if we get the job the rope can then be used for felling and stump pulling . Nylon for stump pulling to much stretch perhaps . But it will do for felling . Polyester seems to be top so far . Would just like to hear what you guys think . Ive never used 3 strand polyester before .
  15. You doing the Oak ? Or are you working with JL ?
  16. Ha ha ha I see this particular van quite often . Maybe a stalker or just his SOP, standard operating procedure . Now I,m begining to think does he follow me ?
  17. I just gave him a polite smile How things with you John . You split all that Russian Oak yet
  18. He just said that they were part of our company. He pointed at us and told the homeowner thats us just there see . Fortunately she was switched on and didnt believe him . Wonder how many times this has happened and it has worked for them ? What annoyed me more was the fact that he had all new stihl gear on . He so looked the part
  19. I was pulling up some stumps from yesterdays job . Then a nice shiney tipper parked up 2 doors down from us .The driver then got out and went to knock on the door and explained to the homeowner that they were working up the road and then pointed at us . I know this as the homeowner they knocked on came and told me . The man in the shiney van seen the homeowner approach me . So he then proceeded to drive past me 4 times and give me the death stare
  20. This why having a written quote is essential on most jobs . Although not in this case . Is there anything the neighbour could help you with in the future ?
  21. Aye 9 o,clock
  22. Trawl the net for alternative solutions . I have terrible shin splints but the pain is now under control . I found that wrapping my leg in elastic horse bandages seems to cure the problem . Mind they have to be tight . I only get 2 / 3 miles before I can,t feel my foot
  23. Good job for someone Annoying how you got to be out of work to even apply
  24. Brilliant mate . Bucket truck
  25. Ha ha ha just dont make me sit in the corner
