  1. Cracking mate. Anyone looking to make one - go bigger than you think! The one my Dad made for the Grandkids grows inside as well!
  2. Are you lot talking about the long sharp thingy that sticks out in front of the yellow coloured loud bit?
  3. Due an upgrade, and GPS feature will figure if it works. Like the look of Samsung Tocco 8MP camera + GPS. Any feedback welcome. Please not all at once or I will lose my place on my Rubicks cube.
  4. Not being funny mate, but the 361 didn't exist 8 years ago. I'm not some kind of saw fascist, honest!
  5. Some good advice above, keep the big saw off your harness till you really need it! Tell us more about tree work in Portugal Bro!
  6. CTS can you post your groundies mobile no.?
  7. I'm puzzled. Timberwolf state that the output for a 150 is 4 tonnes/hour and for a petrol 125 2 tonnes/hour. I have used both machines extensively, and have never noticed that much difference in time to fill the chip back. Sure the 150 will chip 6 inch and slightly less snedding is required, but can it really be twice as fast? Or are the figures obtained by feeding with 4 inch cord so the 125 is in the stress all the time? Would be interested to hear what anyone else thinks who has had EXPERIENCE using both these machines. Please don't turn this thread into a 'my36inchchipperisbiggerthanyoursandlittlechippersareuseless' bore-fest! Thanks.
  8. And on that subject why do women always turn maps upside down to read them?
  9. Starting early is a good idea if you can, but I can imagine the response from the 'ladies who lunch' in Tenterden when I rip up a 66 at 5am....
  10. Bring it on John! Had something similar (which I paid for), but lost the lot when my old PC went t**s up. The combination of the chunky, bound generic RA and the 2 sheet site specific used to really impress the safety guys for construction companies.
  11. Some good advice on here. Personally just slow everything down, apart from the fluid intake. We don't get enough really hot weather here to make it an issue IMO. It'll probably be p***ing down next week!
  12. Congratulations mate.
  13. My views on ladders are - if I can possibly use one I will! Access only mind, working off ladders gives me the heebie jeebies!
  14. Just got back from France. Went into a local Stihl dealer to get a new spark plug for my father-in-law's saw. Was examining a MS192T to see how it compared to the 200. Nice light little saw, but more plasticky and flimsy. The woman in the shop thought I couldn't tell the difference, and went on to explain how the 200 is a 'professional' saw, whereas the MS192T is an 'amateur' saw! Apparently they are really popular with the have a go brigade out there. I suppose it gives them one hand free to hold onto the ladder with! Just under 400 euros for the 192.
  15. You'd get fat working out there then lad! Guy called Peter Percival (?) used to write in Essential Arb about his efforts to set up a business in France. Some good stuff, some bad. Holiday all of August etc. but mainly tree work as we know it is in it's infancy when it comes to anything other than felling or pollarding. Vive la difference!
  16. JPBeaver - nice work. I'd have a word with your mate, though, putting a gob in while you're still up the tree! Treewarrior - belting tree. Just got back from France myself, north of Toulouse. Can't believe the miles of big Planes on the roadside that are well overdue for repollarding! Strangely I never see any tree work being carried out, although they obviously do loads (not all good!). Must have a massive bash at it in the autumn?
  17. Bad news Honeys. Feel for ya. Why is so much gear being nicked when work is generally really slow at the minute? Are the do as you likeys feeling the pinch as much as us?
  18. Two things. It is a great thing to be AA approved for bigger firms, councils etc. Domestic customers simply don't care. Two firms I know are AA approved, but entertain insane free climbing, saws with chain brakes removed lubricated with waste oil from garages and permanently stoned ground staff. The approval scheme could be great, but we have a long way to go IMO. Starting with public awareness.
  19. Spark plug was filthy (black wet oil). Cleaned it, wouldn't even start. Replaced plug, adjusted H & L screws - now running like a good 'un. Thing is, what caused the minging spark plug problem in the first place?
  20. Agree with above (Josh Arb). 880 is a ridiculously heavy saw, even with 30" biceps like mine. My 440 with 20" has become my favourite logging saw, and can only assume the 460 is even better.
  21. Good job you left a nice hinge. If any of you need any help finding metal in butts give me a shout. I'm getting pretty good at it just after I've put a new chain on the 66.
  22. Sorry mate, my brain nearly melted just looking at that document. I can install a standard cambium saver with a throwline, but I can't make Penzance tomorrow! Get your spikes on!
