  1. 8 hrs graft at £5.93 = £47.44. Thats for 21yrs+. £3.64/hr 16-17 £4.92/hr 18-20 Mick was being generous.
  2. We have never lost a job by stopping because of nesting birds, after explaining what the crack is. We have lost 1/2 days work here and there, but it is made up for in reputation and good karma!
  3. To Dumper, not DaveD, who is spot on as usual.
  4. That's not the point mate. Pro tree blokes take nesting birds into account. Species irrelevant.
  5. Cracking work Matt. Where do you buy your skyhooks?
  6. Never done one mate. Please put some pics up, especially if you can get some up the tree. I have heard that the brushwood is much heavier than you think, and snaps off quickly with the back cut. Good luck, take the pain!
  7. Forgot to say Rich, a lot depends on what you intend to do. A 441 is fine as a ground saw for arb, but it is too heavy in the woods. As said earlier, Husky 346 or 357 would win there. Can't comment on the 261, but you couldn't give me a 260. Awful, gutless saw.
  8. Welcome mate, and good luck with the work hunt. You also have a mint username! It's tough out there at the minute. I can't work out what is encouraging so many people to come into this industry when it is basically on its backside? Have you tried Fountains? They were looking for full time lads recently.
  9. I've heard a rumour about the sex scandal involving the fit girl Imogen from Big Brother who has had a £100k gagging order put on her. Apparently it's NOT a prem footballer after all, but a key player on Arbtalk. Let's have a suspect list.
  10. More hinges like this please John. You must have pretty long arms to cut the backstrap that high, but great work all the same. Tell us more please.
  11. Ain't that the sad truth Huck. The last 5 Oak butts we sent to be milled on behalf of a client fetched less than the value of the firewood, but fair play to the bloke, he wanted them to make stuff. Nice job Ross. Bet you were over your welly tops there!
  12. My Uncle and Auntie live in North London Dave. I could pop up and visit them and get that decked for you in an afternoon if you fancy?
  13. Nice shots Dave. The old girl was a fair size. Looked like a cracking day.
  14. Genius Pad! Use DEET all the time, but it is nasty stuff. Will try the sandalwood and Avon stuff (have heard mixed reports on this). Will be up at Kielder next week, so that will be a fair test.
  15. If I eat any more garlic I swear I would turn French!
  16. I seem to attract mozzies, midges etc., and react badly as well. Always have done. I always carry decent repellent, and this normally does the trick, but now and again the little buggers slip through the chemical net, or nail me when I get out the shower etc. Does anyone out there have any tips on how I can improve things? I'm particularly interested to see if anyone has had any luck with diet stuff, B vitamins etc. Thanks.
  17. Sorted that for you Jack! Decent shape achieved despite previously maimed tree and poor spec, I reckon.
  18. Not Red Oak or Pin Oak according to my book. Leaves were big, some 6-7 inches long.
  19. Thought this was a big old Turkey Oak from afar, but the leaves are wrong. I'm stumped, so is my tree ID book!
  20. I thought the same thing! Would be a great addition to Justins show. Top prize could be a double-bit axe worth about £100. All profits to the local A&E.
  21. Thanks for all your kind words lads. Dutchie has just been sniffing every blade of grass in the outlaws garden waiting for her little pal to jump out and start scrapping with her. Tough time.
