  1. thanks Tom, good info there. I don't do sage so that's no problem, I know what you mean about the speed thing. they seem to hold there money too, a 5 year old one is still worth 400 quid on ebay, a 5 year old windows laptop is worth about a tenner.

  4. Laptop is about goosed and am thinking of a mac, price isn't really an issue as the mac is 1500 , I know I can get a Windows laptop much less but after years of cheap ones I have decided to get something good. Thought please. .....pro's aswell as con's .
  5. Forget the cheap build yourself ones and pay a good website guy too do it. Its not just having a site its getting it optimised so it comes up in searches. I paid 500 for mine and its easily the best 500 I have spent. Email dean here [email protected]
  6. You have a problem? Huck got it, and yes it is on my terms, I am the boss not the customer, there are ways and means of talking to people to get what you want or need.
  7. As a one man Gardner you can do it cheap as a tree surgeon outfit with much bigger over heads and wages for staff you cant. I lost 2 hedge jobs this week but I aint bothered I have work coming out of my ears. I wont go out for a job less than 100 unless I can do it when it suits me. I would do that for 75plus vat but only when it good for me. Call a Gardner get Gardner rates call a tree surgeon get tree surgeon rate's.

  11. As a "subbie" you are covered on his EL insurance, however as you are getting paid by the client there is no proof that he pay's you or you have worked for him so if he tells you to do something and you have an accident and try and sue the first thing he will do is say "prove it"..................you can't. What you should do is invoice (Duplicate book) the boss for said day's work and he pays you, he then invoices the customer.............it really is quite simple.
  12. Hiflex are made out of paper any way! Sip progress are good.
  13. I Agree, modern stihl stuff is crap, all the stuff I have bought this year is husky. I am now using Husky for saws and Echo for everything else.

What your doing is far from being right. I suggest you tell him you all work for him and he does all the invoicing and you all grow a pair!
