  1. thanky mesterh:thumbup1: looks like its had some input from the zenoah engineers... like a slightly more huskified t435
  2. did anyone happen to get a picture of this 'ere saw? im intrigued
  3. some pics of things
  4. ms780= de-tuned 880 for running on poor quality fuel/oil in the third world. coming soon to a rainforest near you:001_smile:
  5. excellent saw, arguably better than the husky394... parts availability not so good... take care of it .404/ 3/8th meh... pros and cons, the choice is yours bumper spikes... flat and spiked were an option, flat bumpers seemed popular with scandinavian loggers during the 80's, who knows why
  6. i stand corrected on the non av availability ... however the saw on ebay and the 070 in the mexican catalogue differ in clutch cover and nameplate... without seeing it in the flesh i would dismiss it as a copy... (but then i'm a somewhat paranoid miserable sod:001_smile: ) not saying it wouldnt be worth a punt for the gunuine bar and chain... or a cheap mill saw (as long as you bear in mind the copys can be had for a couple of hundred quid) and i dont think there is a specific 'law' about chainbrakes... just that machinery should have all its original safety measures intact and functioning... saws originally made without chainbrake, no problem:thumbup1:
  7. if its genuine then its very old stock... 070s and 090s made recently have a fairly modern anti-vibe setup and front hand guard. 070s and 090s made a couple of dacades ago had a funky wrap around style antivibe setup and before that i believe had no antivibe... but being a 090 owner and fan, you knew that:001_tt2:
  8. dud... contrary to what the seller claims, stihl dont manufacture any saws in italy... they do have a nice little german back-room that still kicks out the odd 070. but i dont think that saw's ever passed through german hands...
  9. not the easiest tree to retain with all those flying pannekoek to deal with... Red de Anne Frank boom! (fill in your naam, and speel)
  10. nowt wrong with a bit of mineral oil, puts hair on your chest, colour in your cheeks... and a tear to your eye:001_smile:
  11. well, to be honest i over-exagerated for comic effect... £23.50 a litre... stihls rrp... bargain
  12. red stihl oil is mucky mineral, the green £25 a litre stuff is fully synthetic, and there is a semi-synthetic also green i believe...
  13. nicely done mate:thumbup1:
  14. yup, the neighbours cars will have to have a quick rake off and blow down at the end of the day:lol:
  15. i saw it and thought of you:biggrin: speak to you soon fella
  16. shoddy pics, but a rough idea of scale and targets... lines both sides of the road, road is pretty much single track and the only access to a busy beach and a hundred odd houses/ businesses. probably see you at the weekend mate
  17. stevie... your truck/crane/tracked chipper setup is a thing of beauty.... and hows about green and black? rob.... join the hpoc (hilux pickup owners club) forum... friendly bunch, and very knowledgeable about hilux parts/re-builds. good luck, nice looking truck
  18. nice job tom
  19. its fuelling, but not getting enough fuel to get up to cutting revs.. replace fuel filter, check condition of fuel line... strip and clean carb if that doesnt work
  20. a mill saw has the hardest life of all saws... long full throttle ripping cuts and fine dust. i wouldnt mill regularly with a saw i relied on for felling.
  21. no probs mate:001_smile: as an aside... US saw wise; arctic = heated handles/carb R = 3/4 wrap handle, larger clutch cover, big dogs/roller chain catcher, higher output oiler (in the MS460R at least) and slightly different size chainbreak handle (in the 066/660) to allow proper clearance between it and the wrap handle.
  22. as far as i know mate, there was an 038mag, 056mag and 056mag II, all being larger displacement than the AV and Super versions of those saws. in later models the magnum designation was just a marketing ploy and means nothing... like farmboss, its just a word to entice out american friends.
  23. ants are speedy little critters, and i'd think your average foraging ant could cover a good few hundred meters in the course of a day... just gettin er done
  24. depends on who makes them... tecomec make the best quality aftermarket stuff, followed by meteor, followed by epistan... all european, all good. golf (and woodland pro) are a hit and miss afair, some good, some fine, some shockingly poor. As for the rest of the asian made white box no-name stuff... some fine, lots shoddy, lots very poor. with all aftermarket stuff, check the casting quality before fitting to a saw, and compare to the original, as some of the defects are glaringly obvious. i'd always use oem circlips, as the aftermarkets are usually inferior and the first thing to go south.
  25. no probs, i do love a 2100...
