  1. If your engine is turning over long enough for it to flatten a good battery then its probably fuel related.
  2. Put one jump lead on the battery earth terminal and the other end on a starter motor bolt or as near to the starter as you can get it.
  3. Three things, 1 - both on the 300 tdi and Transit engines the fan belts are tightened by a tensioner so there is nothing for you to do there. The squeeling you hear is the bearing in the tensioner. It is possible to replace the bearing but its a fiddly job. Its easy to replace tensioner but it cost's approx £40 whearas a bearing is approx £4.00. 2 - if you are happy the electrical side of things are ok then I would replace the lift pump next. Relatively cheap and easy and if it's not that then you have a spare pump. 3- to give it a bit more power when starting it's quite easy to get two batteries under the passenger seat side by side (if that's where yours are). Your alternator will charge both or you could fit a split charge system but mine works fine as they are. A chap called Gwyn Lewis does a battery tray if you google him he has loads of interesting stuff.
  4. Came across this today, check out page 5 of the Farmi winch brochure. Not quite what I had in mind but close. http://www.daviesimplementsltd.co.uk/Farmi%20winches.pdf
  5. Ditto Board Message An electric winch with freespool, hand held remote and 35 mts cable would be the easiest to fit and like you say the blade seems the likely place to put it. With all new you would be looking around £1700. Personally I think hydraulic would be the better long term option and if you find the solution please let us know.
  6. I bought a lumbermate approx 4 years ago in flat pack, it was reasonably easy to put together. It has probably paid for itself with the amount of timber we have cut to make various buildings. Ours has the tow pack but to honest once you get it nice and flat and stable it's best left there. We have our under cover which is a bonus. You can sharpen the blades but I think the last lot we bought were £13 each so doesn't seem worth it. Unless we are cutting lots of big dry timber we do not use the water. I am just about to buy a new one so if anyone wants a good 2nd hand machine let me know.
  7. Wolverhampton Tree Service have several stump grinders. 01902 892652
  8. Where would it need to be nearer to?
  9. I normally pay £150 for the inspection plus travel time. Ours is 22mtr on a 7.5 tonne Iveco
  10. It's dated 2004 so the prices are a bit out but some good advice in there.
  11. I guess you are sorted now but we have this one fitted to a Volvo EC 25. Picture 829.jpg Picture 831.jpg Picture 832.jpg
  12. Daf every time if you can find them, but how much do you intend to spend. New or 2nd hand.
  13. £1,350,000 not that cheap. What about if we had a forum get together and all put a few grand each.
  14. No signs, no hi-viz just get on and get it done. LOPPING TREES FOR LONDON BUSES - British Pathe
  15. If it was a bit nearer to me I would buy it, they are a basic, very simple truck. Good for woodland work, travel the ground well.
  16. Couldn't see the price or where to buy?
  17. That would be good

  18. Isn't it about time your new one had a winch, your bound to need one some day.
  19. Planning Portal | 1-App You obviously have access to the internet, why not check for your self with the local authority if permission has been granted for work. Does your employer not do risk assessments for the work, these should cover TPO's C/A's. Are you the only employee, what do the other lads say about it?. I am also a very arrogant and awkward boss and more! but I would not expect anyone to do anything unsafe or illegal.
  20. I had a set on a 90 once, think I have the spare at the back of the yard which was in good condition last time I saw it. You are welcome to it if it's any good to you. Where abouts are you.
  21. Is the spare tyre on the bonnet a 750x16 Goodyear, the military type?.
  22. Friday night Holman Clavel, pie and a pint £5.00:thumbup1:
  23. Its not really a double cab but more a king cab, its a 90 hard top cut down. Total Off Road did an article on it earlier this year. I built to use for winch challenge but then coulnd't bear to keep bending it so we just use it for green laning and a bit off work now and again. I use my old hybrid now instead.
  24. If you mean Culmhead then yes, we was back there earlier this year and are there again on Oct 16th and 17th with 4x4 adventures. They are based in Somerset and we do quite a few of their events. We normally take two trucks, mine tends to last all day but the lads are usually broke by lunch time.

If you have a decent winch you can get a Land Rover in some interesting places.
