  1. Love it! Thats going on my LDV!
  2. Sure, yes I agree, on site it still needs to strong enough to prevent chancers. It at home or at its usual parkign place that it is most at risk cos folk can plan ahead and bring the right tools, so nothing is safe. We leave mine open at night, so far no numpty has tried to break in due to not realising its open! I keep meanign to tape some hair over the doors to see if people are looking in or not!
  3. Sure, dust coming out the back is a pain/ I tried venting the roof of my old one but it still happened. I've not bothered venting the new one and it is worser but not too bad, we manage ok. Its only dust though, thats much better than woodchip coming out over the top.
  4. Looks very nice quality work:thumbup1:, The only thing i would change is the locks on the tool box Looks like a gate lock i would do something abit different More secure (but just my personel preference). I would have a key lock fitted in the inside so all that is showing is the key hole and extend the ally so they can't prize down the gap (if that makes sense) Or leave it empty and un locked so they can look in as much as they like?

Oh and mine is cheaper and 23 tons so nearly same same but different.

That one look pretty good, but they suggust that as it has a 50mm tow hitch that that makes it "ready to go to work" but that is definatly not road legal even if it has got some little indicators on it. Never mind though, shove it on a trailer and of you go. Mine (petrol) has a tow hitch on which i just use for moving it round the yard on the back of the quad.
  7. Nice looks good, and nice and smooth on the inside. Roof? Could do with a least three quarters of it roofed IMO.
  8. Stevie, beign up a hill is a hobby. Spend all your free time doing that and the rest of the world can chase its own tail as much as it likes.
  9. We need, writers, thinkers, analysts, philosophers and all manner of other talents in this world, not just grafters. In fact if we were all grafters the world woud be in a right state, somebody has to stay behind and get others things organised. Encouragement should be for everybody whatever their strengths. APart from lazy teenagers of course, get them splitting wood I say!!
  10. I was going to say women, but they are just a sideline hobby really!
  11. And try and get all the nut/bolts/rivets tools etc etc in one place before you start. You can lose a day just chasing after stuff! Get extra of everything so you never go back for more!
  12. Yes, silicone is the cheapest way. I've used the stuff for car body panels when I was replacing car body panels!!!! This is LDV engineering now. I got 4tubes of silicone for a pound somewhere, bargain shove it in there, it will do what it needs to do and last longer than the truck! If you want it to look cleaner on the outside you could try the foamex panels, they would carry any sign writign nicely.
  13. I'm ok for them being planted, they have good points and the site is very eco so where areas have been stripped for construction they are keen to replace with natural fast ground cover. I can't say for certain that these are being planted now, they are in the compound for planting, but the site has at least 2-3 years left in construction. (it got slowed down abit this year due to recession) The order was for 50. 34p would seem right, but no. Put it this way if I had gone out and dug up 50 trees pruned to 50cm and put them in pots, I could easily do that in a day and deliver them and I would get way more than double what I charge for turning up with loads of kit and doing tree work all day!
  14. I have been workign on a construction site for a while now. They are doing lots of planting which is great. Then I notice these going in..... I pinched a tag, I've deleted the company that ordered them but the rest is real! Any thought about the wisdom of planting this species? There is already an abundance of the stuff all over the site, in fact I cut down any of it in my way! Also, what would you pay for such an item?
  15. 2200kgs is about right for a steel tipper. You would have saved some takign the original steel sides off. Mine was 2020kgs with the tipper on and tool box, before I started on the chip box. Interestign to see what it come out as but I would recomend you do the same as me and not weigh it! 1800kgs chipper!!!!!! "sorry I'm late" will be your new catchphrase!.
  16. "Mechanical tip mechanism is operated by the excavators bucket." Does that mean you have to push it over to empty it? Technical!
  17. One day I'll get round to weighing it!!
  18. Did you weigh it before you started building the box? Always interestign to see what they weigh before and after a self build project.
  19. It sside impact AND the harness type which is important. Husky lids do not have the straps so are not for climbing, the chin strap is next to useless. I don't know about black diamond but Petzl helmets are for industrial access work as much as they are for rec/sport climbing. Unless they make a sport only version?? Vertex was designed for arborists and workign at height so if there is any doubt then that would be the one to go for. As far as the guy working in the shop though Matt, I would reckon that you are more qualified in your work than he is in industrial access work, that why he works on the checkout! I've had discussions in the past with outdoor shop workers when they ask what something is for. Years ago I used to like static rock rope to use as prussik loops, but if you mention that, you get a lecture about prussik loops must be 2/3rds or less of the size of the climbing rope etc etc, which may be true for single line self rescue but not for Ddrt, but of course they knew nothign about that.
  20. I don't think there is a set way of doing it, ie you can't just say 11mm rope goes with 8mm hitch cord 12/9 and 13/10 etc. althought that is a good start IMO. It depends on the flexibility of the cord, the higher the flexibility the higher the diameter of the cord can be compared to the rope, but it also depends on the knot as well. with a blakes hitch you would use like for like. There are so many variables. Blaze and the smaller diameter OP cord go well with a vt set up though.
  21. Probably won't be on his website yet if he's only got them recently. I know he uses a jetboil and got it from a supplier of his who imports and/or distributes them.
