  1. Is it heat resistant? Not used it I don't think, is that the one thats also used as access lines? Expensive though. (for an access line)
  2. Thats quite long! I'm using the same stuff at the moment! I bought 6m off the reel and it last so long I havn't needed to get anythign else. But I have had enough of it! I'm thinking of going back the good old melting stuff and just replace it more often. Marlow do that green and black stuff, or lyros black stuff. That will do nicley, less burning my hands and less scorching the rope too. My blaze is ruined where I can out of a tree and then didn't run some rope through the know quickly to cool it down.
  3. Hi. I've got one that had some bits taken out of the chain break mechanism but the rest of it is still ok? No chain break handle thoug like I said, but left and right plastics all together, main handle ok, top handle all fine. £30.00 + postage. Paypal would be fine, pm me if interested. I doubt I can get it posted till friday though.
  4. It comes in different lenghts though, there is no "normal" and the longer it is the harder rit can be to get it to grip, but that depends on the knot.
  5. 1m is guite long. Vt's etc usually need around 70-80cm finished length. It is horrible stuff though that cord. Lasts for ages though so if you can get it right then its not as expensive, although the spliced one is deer. It should be much better on a fatter rope. HAve you tried a VT? At least with that you can add wraps easily.
  6. I got a groundie to switch saws from me a few years back. When I got down I asked where the 200 was (020 then) he said he had put it one the wall over there. Basically he had put it on the wall at the front of the property in full veiw of every passer by. Needless to say it was not there anymore. Yes, you do need to check up on them!
  7. Not far then. But I probably could post it. Let me have a look tomorrow. I've got two and some old bars (not perfect) but I know for sure there are no chain break handles, they are like rocking horse dna! Oh and by the way , yes you should check the ground before you drop stuff! Of course good groundies should to, but you all have to be looking for stuff, not one or the other.
  8. Problem is we are not being rewarded! I can charge more a day to leave stuff on site than I can to remove arisings. And tree work is high profit and haulage is low profit. So I charge less a day to make less % profit! Leave on site is where its at. If your truck is not full you can stay longer and do more tree work and make more money. Emptying the truck is down time that costs more than work time! We need to be doing far less haulage, unless we can make money from the product, which therefore means its not waste so no need for wcl. You see, round and round in circles.
  9. Doesn't that just depend on the size of vehicle and not what you are carrying? With the exception of 20 something yr year old girls driving 7.5t horse boxes. Now they nust be special!
  10. Yes I might do. I know I have no chainbreak handles spare as they have been used up, but I definatly have starter sides in tact and clutch side plates mostly intact. I'll look tomorrow. Where are you?

    Todays job

I can't see what you have done! I know thats supposed to a good thign but seriously what have you done? What % reduction are you calling that?
  12. Definatly special!!!
  13. You can't put a splice on a used rope anyway so yes, you'll have to wait till you get a new rope. But, if you are using a VT you don't have to do it with a HC. Other pulleys are available and some work ok ish with a termination knot. Splices are generally better allround though, except for blakes and prussik systems where it really doesn't matter that much.
  14. "In the eyes of those collecting it" is what I said. Its gold to them. Whatever its classed as is irrelavant, I guess most scrap collectors don't have a wcl, yet we are supposed to for woodchip and logs which a far less like waste than old cars and stuff. Dean, I'm with you. We shouldn't have the wcl. Except that I do have one.
  15. Yes I didn't think anyone was actually slagging anyone else off but my point is that it should be the best kept secret in the industry, so don't ever mention you have it to anyone ever, or else its "can you take the pile of garden rubbish" etc etc. Play the "I only take recyclable materials" card. it wins everytime. We are saving the planet after all! (Thers your sarcasm!)
  16. Especially when its not your customer.
  17. And scrap isn't "waste" either. It has value and is therefore goods in the eyes of those collecting it. I doubt the EA would agree though.
  18. Even though I have a wcl I think its fool hardy to tell private clients about it and/or to slag off competitors. The last thing we want is cleints thinking we are licensed to take away their waste! I get out of removing stump grindings cos they are not recyclable, and I don't take garden waste cos its waste! So the last thing I need is clients knowing anything about wcl. Thats part of the paradox of having it in the first place. Non of us want to be a waste removal service, we should be paid for tree work not haulage. We can recycle the arisings so thats good for us, and if that adds to profit then even better. SO we have a license for something we don't want to do? Does not make sense. I only have it to keep the LA happy. If I get pulled I'll be fine but at the same time I'd happilly try and talk my way out of it if I didn't have the wcl.
  19. You don't need to see it working if you have only been asked to supply the wood.
  20. I agree! It looks ok if you are there becaus its real, so obviously not wall paper!! I thought they would all crack and go grey but so far so good, they get some protection from the elements and not much direct sunlight, its just a small courtyard in a pub. The point of the story is to do whatever the designer wants as they are often a good source of work! This particular one is extremely expensive so any jobs I get through her are going to be for wealthly clients, so she wants 60mm rings of hardwood, she gets it, no charge.
  21. I got a load cut for a garden designer once but they were for a log wall not a floor. I thought that idea was crazy but they still look ok 2 years later. The were 60mm thick and various hardwoods of all sizes.
