  1. Just amazing some of the noises they imitate. I really thought that some one was chainsawing in the National Park that i backed onto. The nail gun sounds coming from the Park gave the bird away!!

    No slack

Just looked at your picture again and that little biner, could be at times, definitely load bearing. Admittedly its at only 1/4 the load ...or could it get up to 1/2 the load ??? If it fails it would be mostly inconvenient as it is inside a closed system but why have a weak point in there ...unless there is a reason??

Whoa don't use that in a tree that biner to the sling needs to be a double locking minimum.
  4. I wonder what the military one costs ??? I think Scotts just as quick if not quicker SRT and he get an aerobic workout as well:biggrin:
  5. pIcs of my set up.. this is my prefered tree acess system.
  6. This is how i modified my pantin . Take the cam from left hand petzel ascender with the black plastic locking toggle and replace existing cam on the pantin. Why Petzel doesnt bring the pantin out this way???? probably no one has told them ??
  7. This is how i did ( before hitch climber) and yes it was a fixe.
  8. Back when I used a bucket( cube man now!!) i would cut some heavy cardboard or old plactic lid and press down onto the line so that it doesnt move it transit and create tangles. You could also put more than one line in a bucket. The folding down on the cube not onlly makes it smaller but cuts down string movement as well. Refeeding back into the cube is important ,time taken calmly two handed refeeding (flaking?) could save heaps later. Why go throught the evolution stick ,reel, bucket , cube ?? Go straight to the cube man!! Ps I do keep a spare line in a small tin.
  9. Did you look 9in Google? ISC -
  10. Sorry atree no pics as yet Scott is recently back to Tas and not fully internetted yet. Its basicly the same as Drews unit except instead of the cocoon you have a 2 revolvers on web runners( i think he said he got the idea from Bedes).I am pretty sure its 16 strand and how hes spliced the core with it I dont know cept He was pretty stoked about it.
  11. Drew that looks a lot great mate.I am waiting to hear a price. A mate of mine Scott Sharpe was showing me his new retrieval redirect made with two revolvers and two webbing runners ( the top runner slightly longer so the revolvers sit even) which was pretty cool. BUT he said do u notice anything about the spliced eye? He had spliced it with the core still in it.
  12. After changing my eating habits i am 7kgs ligher @ optium heigth/weight ratio. The less weight you carry in any way the better!!
  13. What ...call that tricky falling ?? the tree's weren't even on fire... Seriously great shots of some very dodgy trees. Done some similar but not that bad. Need to keep your wits about there. Doing my basic firefighting course next weekend for Tas Fire service to be prepared for next fire season.
  14. Was that a back release cut? and are those your wedges in the top left hand corner?
