  1. 260 or above for ground saws for me. i like to work them well.
  2. (this may already be a thread but i couldnt find it) what rope would be the best for climbing!? comparing workability with price and so on basicly im in need of a new rope as my gecko has "vanished", and now i'm seeking advice from all you well weathered climbers out there. cheers
  3. the thining could be due to the outer layer stretching over the inner core, best thing to do is "milk" it. basicly running a friction knot down it a few times. worth a shot me thinks
  4. to be honest, this is the first time i've notice people posting on here. But thats probaly to do with my lack of observation how is work nowa days for the midlands?! from what i've been hearing, its started to pick up again.
  5. oooo cat fight but we all make mistakes, i've got a lil' chunk out of the toe in my boot from my saw. climbing can get you into all sorts of awkward positions, and working with machinery such as chainsaws makes it doubly as dangerous. which is why we are/should be trained as it is a profession and takes a high amount of skill. ignorance is the biggest danger in our industry! and ... to: Jason James Gairn lol
  6. college will only get you knowlege of trees, but notknowledge of arb "WORK", that can only be learnt in the field, but as a current student im finding it very hard to get into the field work. ive even offered to do it for free!
  7. the common pink arm. occurs from multiple brash scratches upon the for arms
  8. well i started at college doing arb NC when i was 17 and i loved it (well not the assignment work), and then moved onto the longer ND course, but i do agree with your statments about the colleges. i believe the education system for arb could be dramaticly improved, but i still give thanks to my lecturers for doing a wonderful job with all they have to cope with.
  9. definately a good watch, could of been longer i was rlly enjoying that ...im sad now:sad:
  10. thats insane! but personally i fink bowling balls off the egde would be better, actually sinking boats. Extreme battleships!
  11. i have orange, you get it for free when you have been on contract for 2 years or more i think. it does every thing it should and as above is fairly quick and simple to set up .
  12. jordan! remember, you need to giv me work

well i came to the wrong place .... but the door in which i entered has been replaced with what can only be described as .... dark matter. does any body know the way to the bus stop, or blockbuster!? either will suit me fine
  14. this is nice , lots of people showing respect and appreciation. but most of all love arbtalk may you live forever!!!
  15. fair point, i got mine discounted you see, because i got it throught the college like, call it student discount if you will. But You can knock em down a fair bit, i got em to give me free braces:001_tongue:.
  16. from what iv heard and seen people use, tree magic harnesses are good, i use a butterfly which is ok, can be uncomfortable in some awkward positions, but is yet to try and castrate me so all good
  17. haha, quite tru, but get drunk quik enuf and u'll loose most of ur senses, so ever u or the potential client will not know whats goin on. and chicks do love the braces, simular to a fire man.
  18. 024-7685-6846 thats it me reckons, mine cost me round 300 (not including PPE) but they'll make a deal with you to throw it in if u wish, they're a good bunch
  19. you want to ring "tudor environmental" they've got a perfect climber starter kit i cant find the number now but i will eventually! they are in coventry but shud deliver
  20. best way is flyers, then u can deliver to the rich people who still spend money these days. But seriously, they are alot more direct and depending on the design alot more enticing, as for instance the yellow pages has alot more companies that may appeal more attractive to a proportion of customers. well thats what i think. but word of mouth is the best after a few jobs, plus it means you have an excuse to go to the pub and "advertise"
  21. ok ... friction hitch = e.g. prussic/blakes hitch (just rope no pulley) Pulley = e.g. hitch climber ( friction hitch included (VT) )
  22. by friction hitch i mean like a blakes, but i spose i should have been a bit clearer. sorry folks
