  1. Awesome, cheers guys. £25 is silly cheap. A couple of those and you don't really mind if they get bashed about and dirty. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. I got given a Swazi for work but it's short sleeved and $275. I also have a Stihl waterproof that was $350. Looking for some cheaper ones that'll take a beating and the military ones are always recommended. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. I know the whole waterproof discussion has been done to death but can anyone recommend a good Military surplus supplier (UK, EU or US) and a tried and trusted waterproof and breathable jacket. Not interested in the expensive chainsaw stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. Hey bro, checking in. How's things going up there? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. I remember that one now. By the way, I might have asked before but where are you located? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. You should see the four bladed ones Goaty. I've heard of plenty of telegraph poles that have become victim but never a blade that has come loose Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. Name rang a bell but couldn't be certain [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Oddly enough though, quoted a job in Auckland for a woman that was 1 year ahead of me at school in my hometown! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Search YouTube for shelterbelt trimmer NZ. Guards are unheard of on a lot of the machinery. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Or people here who think you know people in England because you're from England. I was actually asked once; do you know such and such? He's from England. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. http://Www.trademe.co.nz look under jobs/arborist. You can check out accommodation in the area you want to live on the same site. Both Treescape and Asplundh are approved with NZ immigration I believe and can shortcut the visa process. There may be a couple of other companies that can too. I've worked for Asplundh in the U.K., Oz and NZ and they are the biggest tree company in the world but matched by Treescape in Australasia. Personally, I'd work for a smaller outfit and, as Goaty says, steer clear of Auckland and Queenstown. Both are seriously expensive to live and there are plenty of towns and locations where you can walk, ride etc. Taupo, Hawkes Bay (Napier) New Plymouth, Nelson for a start. I'd stay clear of Hamilton but Wellington can be nice. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Yeesh I feel old. Last time I had a night out in Nottingham it was The Black Orchid. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. With that set up I'm guessing you're either a very keen hobbyist outside of tree work or you just appreciate good gear. With regard to the felling cut; that's low compared to what the guys in NZ are taught. I'll try and get some shots. Plenty of time to get it right by the end of the course. Great shots too. Nice to see the time taken to show guys enjoying learning. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. I'd tend to agree. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Try working on line clearance in NZ! Fire retardant overalls on top of your chainsaw gear are mandatory for several companies. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. My wife has the same, too many nights at Rock City in Nottingham. I never wore ear protection until I was around 24 but have been lucky. I'm almost 47 but my hearing is excellent. The ear muffs are on even if I'm raking up. Also generally listen to music with ear buds at a low level which helps keep chipper and chainsaw noise out. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Sunset beach, Vancouver. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  23. I got the same on Friday. Zip file for a payment. My antivirus dumped it immediately but it got through Apple's defences. Fortunately, I didn't open it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Any oldies or needy in the neighbourhood you could "donate" it too in return for Brownie points and the feel good factor? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Far out!!! Usually that kind of firewood is gone before it hits the deck. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
