just a thought. i have got 1 woodburner at the moment about to get number 2. how many members heat there homes with a wood burner and how do you rate them against other forms of heating:001_cool:

yes really good new growth and yes lots of deer red fallow and this year lots of roe.

i use all stihls at work and a husky at home. had a little trouble with 026 engine blew up had to be replaced. if you still want an echo get to sandringham carving championships sponserd by echo they sell all 60 or 70 chainsaws off at less than half price this includes a carving bar.

i cant go this year just had 5 weeks off work a lot of catching up to do. even if i did go the man in the big house would buy me nothing. hope you all have a great time lads and ladies and have one for me david:001_cool:

if you plant quercus cerris you will be the only one. the forestry com and windsor forest are felling and ring barking its all to do with the knopper gall the knobly gall on the english oak

in the forestry trade this is a widow maker. trunk still joined to butt twisted and under tention. more workers used to be killed on windblow trees than any outher tree tasks. i also agree with pete start atthe crown stay safe on the outside and work in you will then see how much tention you have.

i had the same problem with my 800 year old oak.horses that is, and i put a fence around her.my old lady.

this winter i started to copol my hawthorn to create an understory they look realy good. what do anyone else think of this,they grow well as they are shade bearers.

i love old ash but i have not got many as they only burn ash in the big house. dont get me started on famers you tell them to keep away double the crown spread so you are clear of roots and they say will i pay for loss of crops. and they spray my new hedges with pestiside and they die mingers.

thanks detritus 21 you may not want to walk here then avenue planted in 1600 oak trees with 6 critical types of fungi. but all trees are checked weekly by me and managed dead wood clearance and weight reduction when tyre bulges are seen. today i just spotted fruiting bodie of inonotus dryadeus and chicken of the woods.

thanks mr ed.i have just read an article in essentialarb and steve cox of the aa said focus should be in planting not preserving. i agree with the planting one year i planted 10000 trees and shrubs, but you must preserve yesterday i was talking to a couple of visitors who only came for the trees and i told them how do you replace a 800 year old oak? what is scary is how much the public knows about trees they asked me if i had got the presesionary moth sorry for spelling. and also some know their fungi:001_cool:

come on people lets talk trees. ? what our your veiws on longevity i think trees in parkland situ like mine should live forever. clause talks about c stems i have got half that again e.g a huge maple with a nice small crown and every year the first tree to flush,oak trees totaly hollow standing only on buttresses. i know roadside trees are a problem but take a look at the age of the london planes at westminster wow because they are recut on a regular basis. keep the trees safe and alive and we will always have work. if you ever get the chance go to windsor with ted green you will see oak and beech you will not beleive but full of life such as a beech tree which hollowed out to a c stem now it is healing itself with reactive wood.wow i love trees

my oak trees have got ganoderma adspersum and r esinaceum,grifola frondosa,inonotus dryadeus,laetiporus sulphurus,fistulina hepitaca. my beach have ganoderma, with armillaria on stumps and attacking weak young trees. shall i fell them all? problem is they are all between 200 and 800 years old.:bawling:

thousands of oak trees with me and i use my trusted hammer. have had eastwoods with a picus in high target areas

white woods are in with wood turners 4 2008 hollybrill but dont worry about using as firewood holly is one of only two woods you can burn brown or green

i have just pollarded some 20 year old crack willows as a trial, have not been back to see them yet but first growth on a pollarded willow should grow atleast 4ft in one season
