    looks good buddy just started on christmas presents square cheese board for my grandad, does have a knife but not done it yet. red elm, finished in tung oil. and an ornamental birdhouse for grandma, sycamore finished in pastewax unfortunatly ive got flu at the moment so not much is getting done Ben

    Weve always had rescues weve had a rescued english springer, 2 mongrels who were gorgeous, a yorkie (which we have now) and now murphy the collie! Ben

    I did look for it to be honest but couldnt find it! (i am lazy at the moment!) hes a right little cheeky monkey, settled in well! though seems to have taken to laying in the yorkies (mea the yorkshire terrier!) bed, though he doesnt fit! and mea is now in the big bed! Tugs on my goatee when i sit down next to him. CHeers guys, photos of my old friend appear to be escaping me at teh moment ben

Hey guys and gals Unfortunatly my long friend and companion died a few weeks ago after a long and happy life, few pictures of her to come, but today we picked up a rescue 4 month old collie that was rescued from an irish puppy farm a month ago. Called murphy! hopefully he will be coming out with me when i get a few things sorted!! thought id share him all with you! Ben

    yesterdays project, wall thickness is down to 3mm at the bottom! made of chestnut i think. finished in pastewax and melamine laquer. Ben

    thats certainly true, most of the stuff we have at the minute is to dry to be of any use, most of the stuff ive got left is well split or foamy-rotton-sort-of-ness I do have some willow, plum, pear, and apple that im working up to doing somthing with. its all just a bit small to be of major use... oh yeah just added you on facegeek aswell!     cheers guys that looks really good hplp. im just finding it hard to find any blanks round where i am, postage doubles the cost on ebay, im making do with fire wood at the moment and its not that great to be honest! Ben

    My latest creation, just to see if i could! Ive just bought a set of tools off of the bay of e. Ill Have to see how much of a difference the right tools make! think its chestnut, straight off the woodpile! Ben

    haha fair play Ian. It was good to watch some one on the lathe, i can watch how things are done then! Indeed, the difference that gouge makes is awesome, far better than anything ive used before... Im pricing up the sovereign system at the moment, and a scroll chuck, just depends what i can get for my birthday on thursday, and how much i work! Im thinking a proper tool set would be more benefical than a chuck.... Ben

    to be honest Sam ive no idea if leylandii is poisenous or not, (and it dont hold a pint!) I can finish them in danish oil (which i know is safe for food things) im just not sure on the actuall wood... ill have a dig about, unless some one here knows! Ben

    it certainly could be, ill make another one if you want it, or just interested either way ill be making another! the inside of that one is a bit rough to be honest, but yeah man, feel free to make an offer on anything i make! nothing is up to Ian Leaches standard yet, but i should be getting some bits for my birthday next friday

    After getting a new gouge from Ian at Jonsies show (after sobering up) i had a go at a bowl when i got in! looks alright if i do say so myself, its full of pot pourri as the bottom isnt that good, the wood was a bit rotten and spongey in places, but yeah s'ok for a first attempt! made of silver birch Ben
