  1. Definitely improved the carrying capacity, just don't lob massive logs in.
  2. Service metals for all the bits and 2 days in the workshop built this, had them make the toolbox and I just shortened the tipping body so it could be mounted directly onto the chassis so it wouldn't tip.
  3. Direct from Fall prevention is the key to my understanding
  4. Can't call it fall arrest, it's for fall prevention so the lanyard must be kept short enough to prevent you falling in the first place. You can have your tree harness if your planning on getting out into the tree to work otherwise your ment to have a full body on.
  5. They won't which unless they give a decent grace period of compliance lots of people will find themselves parked up unable to earn a living again. It's hard enough just to get a young lad a trailer towing test at the moment! If they do bring in a olicence for smaller vehicles and run it the same as larger vehicles I could see a lot of firms myself included going sod it in for a penny in for a pound and stepping up to 10ton+ vehicles
  6. Your never going to be doing a lovely maple reduction with it but when the bits are 200kg it's really quite fun [emoji16]
  7. Retrenchment is a staged crown reduction over around 20 years to try a force the tree to put on a sub canopy mimicking the natural stag heading of ancient oak's. This tree was started 10 years ago with a reduction of overextended laterals then 5 years ago we did a 4m reduction of the whole canopy then again a 4-5 m reduction. The trunk of this tree is heavily compromised by 3 active fungal infections that have been clearly identified but the tree is of such historical significance removal wasn't consider as a option nor was it nesisury immediately so working with a very good consultant and the arboretum staff this was felt to be the best long term management strategie. After the first reduction we didn't see much reaction from the tree but after the second the response was amazing and the flush of leaf had never looked so good for years so hopefully with how we managed to remove so much material without damaging any of the inner canopy will again force the tree to put energy into developing this.
  8. Stage 3 of heavy retrenchment of this massive Oak, we were encouraged to rip and fracture branches as we cut so the westtech was the perfect quick safe option. Tree's still 22-24m tall for scale and we removed at a educated guess 5ton off it this time.
  9. Having a good clear out in the yard last week busting down all the big crap ready for chipping now everything isn't a mud bath. The two bobcats make a brilliant tag team sorting and stacking.
  10. Well what's left of it..... Not much left.
  11. Two spotted on today's little walk in the dale's
  12. Using what we already had to make the e85 even more versatile loading chip in the yard, really quick and hardly any mess
  13. Well this is a strange little machine I like the extending dipper
  14. Hi Chris, hope your well. One guy we do a bit of nasty edge tree work for runs a Kronos that on a Y drawbar and has proper drive hubs, if he puts tracks on the trailer and chains on the valtra it will get where the purpose built won't. Crane seems really strong and quick but like you say the chains on the extension do restrict how much it will drag in on bigger stuff.
  15. No it's a 90xp and I don't care what anyone says this model can really chip if you know how to get the best out of it.
  16. Steam from incredibly wet conifer, it was pissing it down all day. Everysooften a bunch gets compacted between the rollers and the blade and gets a bit warm.
  17. Yanmar stuff seems very underated for what you get for your money, this bobcat has a yanmar engine in it.
  18. Few of the E85 out getting some graft done
  19. Some amount of hydraulic power on site yesterday. Looking forward to giving tidy up a go with this on the E85.
  20. Eventually got the grab delivered and piped up today, hopefully the cab guards won't be much longer. Also found putting the ditching bucket on backwards makes a very quick chip loader
  21. Our 162 did the auto change between C D and yes it got me in bother one when it changed down on a wet road lost traction and started to spin so a a very quick switch on of 4x4 was needed. At least with the direct you have a handy button to hold a gear so no reaching round to switch off auto. I found yesterday the engine breaking when on full and nothing on the back is quite effective as I ended up slumpt over the steering wheel by just taking my foot of the go peddle 🤦🏻‍♂️ All these little things to learn!
