  1. If he'd have felled it at the orange line where it was marked out, it would have gone underneath. Its his own fault for felling it so low.
  2. As far as I am aware, Dean, the owners' agents have the matter in hand. I don't want to make any further comments on that side of things on a public forum though, whilst things are ongoing.
  3. They wouldn't have heard the boom...
  4. Well we can't see it now, you changed the picture!
  5. Habitat pile eh?
  6. I suppose so, its usually there, but was at a local old quarry one year.
  7. Then you could go and clear up all that brash at the side of the road, thats been there weeks, cunningly hidden by the wing mirror in your avatar!
  8. Real shame. The tree belonged to a really nice old gentleman who died just before christmas. He liked the tree a lot. His neighbours less so. It was one of my first jobs as a climber to crown lift and dead wood it. Every few years he would have a bit of reduction and lifting, whatever, to keep the peace, and keep his tree. Me and five other people I have worked with have been up that tree at some point in time. His house is on the market and persons unknown have broken in to the garden and vandalised the tree. His family asked us to take it down, it doesn't look good to potential buyers and they also didn't want reminding every time they looked at it that people had been into their Dad's garden. Very sad.
  9. Its a bit late for that ....
  10. The answer is.... It was full of what smelt like very strong weedkiller and oil or diesel and rainwater. Closer investigation revealed it to be man made by repeatedly drilling it out. It looked like a woodpecker hole, but the tree was quite sound, no dead wood or rot. This is what they did to the rest of it Totally ring barked and riddled full of copper nails.
  11. Gordon Brown! :lol::lol:
  12. I'll let a few more guys have a guess and I'll tell you later.
  13. Respect, mate.
  14. Annual Land Rover show at Driffield Showground in East Yorkshire next weekend 8/9 May, for them's thats interested.
  15. 120 gear oil is a happy medium between the 80 and grease!
  16. What do you think is in here?
  17. I'd definately agree with that, Dave. My hands used to tingle with pins and needles all the time after a lot of hedge trimming. The newer ones with spring mounts are quite good these days. I don't like gloves but I wear them a lot these days, both to try and prevent further damage, and because my hands are bloody cold all the time. The heated handles on my 361 are great.
  18. Yeah, my hands are cold all winter.
  19. Klemheist is a nice knot to climb on if you like a prussic. Nice and slippy to move up and bites hard down. I used to use one a lot, but use a blakes these days, as its easy to adjust the length for different situations.
  20. Cheers Reg.
  21. Quality, as always Reg! On the Dual device, does the yellow strap do all the work of holding it in place on the tree, and the blue strop below act as a back up? Or is the blue strop doing a bit of grabbing on as well? Have you found any movement of the device with those big chunks? Cheers.
  22. How steep a gradient will it climb stevie? Would it struggle with those logs up a shorter set of ramps into that trailer?
  23. That little conny is what the thread is all about. The welly was a nice controlled fell of a large tree with plenty of space around it, I wouldn't say it was a stunt fell.
  24. All good stuff Dean!
  25. Grandfather had a couple of those. One with the crash box and sticks in the middle and a great numb Farmhand loader on the front. Your left leg knew about it if you were stacking flat 8's of bales all day. The other older one had the column sticks and was used by the shepherd. He was about 6'5" so could only use a couple of the gears cos his knees were in the way!
