  1. You can imagine Skyhuck, in the voice of Al Murray, The Pub Landord, " ...it was only once, and I was very confused......" !!!!!
  2. Nice one! Well done, hope it brings you some business.
  3. Man after my own heart!
  4. Big 'Ammer

    X factor

I have had to endure hearing it in the background, daughter watching it. Wife's away on a jolly at V fest.
  5. Busted!
  6. That's how your supposed to do them isn't it? Spot on!
  7. Here's one for Skyhuck. Big roadside ash, rotten and split right up the trunk. Climbed up and took off some heavy side limbs to move the weight round so it was opposite the split and to save the young trees at that side. Nice deep gob across the widest part of the stem and bored out to discover where the sound wood was. Back cut round either side to leave even holding wood at either side of the split and then release both sides at once with a dog tooth. Right on the money, into the available space.
  8. here's the story. BREAKING NEWS LATEST UPDATE - 10,000 properties in Driffield plunged into darkness as suspected scrap-metal thief "cheats death" after receiving 66,000 Volt electric shock - Driffield Post
  9. Good stuff All the toys out too! I like the grab on the digger for fishing stuff out the water.
  10. Like now, there will have been good ones and bad ones. However, 15 years ago, pre tickets being obligatory, you would imagine that anyone who wasn't reasonably productive would have soon dropped out the industry. There were probably at lot less climbers then as well. I think climbing is loads easier these days because of modern ropes and gear. Modern rigging equipment has transformed the work entirely. Saws are more powerful and lighter. Those who are the best at the game nowadays will no doubt shift more work for the same effort than there counterparts did 15 years ago. On the other side of the coin, there will be people employed in this industry, who are mediocre, but just about adequate, that wouldn't have lasted a week back in the day.
  11. On today's local radio lunchtime news it reported that a man had been electrocuted attempting to steal wire from a sub station at Driffield, 5 minutes up the road from us. He's seriously burnt but alive in hospital and the police are waiting to interview him.
  12. Is he Polish?
  13. Stuart Somerscales timber merchants? If they don't do it they will probably know somebody local who would.
  14. Thats a tidy job, Dean.
  15. 3499kg on the log book or actually on the VIN plate on the bulkhead?
  16. Its surprising how quick they will green up with regular water. We cut some back really hard a few years back and some areas were bare where the estate took out some adjacent large shrubs. The estate put down a trickle hose under most of it and that has worked wonders with recovery.
  17. The transit is already 3500kg, so you would putting into a different class and need an O liscence. Scrap men often uprate the springs on their transits! They look like dragsters when empty. Don't suppose they'll bother with the plates!
  18. Excellent work Rupe! We do something similar every year, my shoulders have taken about a week to recover and I can nearly feel my hands again. What sort of hedge trimmers do you prefer, Rupe?
  19. Great set of pics! Thats a useful chip box on the tranny!
  20. Interesting stuff, cheers. I was of hoping that if you changed the springs to the appropriate spec, filled in the changes on the log book, changed the VIN plate, informed the insurers of the modification, then that would be it. The vehicle is already class VII tested as a vehicle over 3000kg up to 3500kg.
  21. They must have missed you while you've been away ..... Whereabouts in Scotland did you go, to get away from it all? Was it Largs? Stevie Blair says VOSA aren't right bothered up there!
  22. What modifications would I need to make to a 3050kg gross LR 110 to up the weight to 3500kg? I dare say there's more to it than changing the springs and sending in the log book? Is it economically feasable? What's the legal side? Its already on a class VII test.
  23. .... so i can reply to your message.
  24. Good debate for a Friday after the pub! There are plenty on here running Ag reg machines.
  25. It depends who's reading it. Some of my clients who have, at first, been the most pernickity and awkward about everything being just so, are now some of my most preferred customers, because they leave us to get on with the job. On the other hand, sometimes its an endless paper trail that no-one will read. Sometimes they do read it and check up on the information that you supply, as was the case today. I have done a very profitable job today for a new client, tree pruning from a mewp, on a commercial site. After being given an order for the job, I sent in a M S in advance without being asked, which took only 5 minutes to adapt from a previous one from another job. This shaved half an hour off the site induction and H&S process this morning to allow us to get on with the job. Work manager was delighted we were ahead of the game, and is recommending us for further work. Write your M S to take account of constantly changing conditions and then you can change your work method as conditions and risks change.
