Gibbon, just out of interest where is that pic from??? For me yeah planes & oaks have so much character also a brazlian tree called Jatoba is a great tree which I dont have any pic will try to get some but yes so many. Also minty that pic of the bird upside down is awesome!!!

IMO, cavites and any wound should be left to the trees natual defense system to compartmentlise and heal, many arboricultre text will say to leave cavites alone, and that filling or drilling dranige holes should not be done, pruning paint also is not commonly used in modern arb. If the decay is so bad and the tree seems to be a safety risk maybe removing the tree, grind the stump and replanting with a desirable species is a better arb praticise, and may give you more work and $$$$.

its got to be a silky, Zubat 330 for me but with a another holder, the holder that come with the saw is really poor.

All depends if the tree is in a public place, if its in the middle of the bush dont worry about the support system, but lovely looking place Mike nice one.

So not one leaf or any part of a branch will come in contact with another part of another tree or a part of the same tree, yeah thats really strange, sure there is a reason behind it all. Crown shyness hey, pretty cool. Nature does some strange things!!!

Tree magic 2 is a top harness really comfy, I have seen the tree flex and it looks really good but never used it, would like to give it a go

How can anyone control a chain saw with one hand, it is impossible and eventually will cause an accident, all for trying to save one minute against making doing the job properly, time can always be saved in other areas of the job buy using good equipment/gear and work as a team ect. I personaly dont see the need to cut and hold or use a saw one handed, if you are know climbing systems and plan your work you should be able to do the job safely and at a productive pace.IMO

G'day all, well I have been on the forum for a little while now, 6 months or so, I moved to Brazil over a year ago and am trying to promote tree climbing and general tree work here, have been a climber for over 3years orginally in Australia. I am now thinking of doing a short stint in Ireland in Feb next year, 3 months or so, can any one tell me how bloody cold is it in Ireland around this time and is it general a busy time in the Arb industry around the start of the year???? would it be easy to pick up work??? Cheers fellows

Never with a chainsaw, but yes a bloody hand saw plenty of cuts with those, I think if you have two hands on the saw and a good work position you should never cut yourself with a chainsaw in a tree.

I think that before you can call your self an arborist you need to have the qualifications (the piece of paper) ie ISA cert or what ever dipolma from what ever Arb college untill then I dont believe you are an qualified arborist. Yes you may have a lot of plant knowledge and years or experience on the job and have done a lot of reading of arboricultre text but until you sit the tests and pass exams you are not an arborist.IMO I would regard myself as climbing going through the proccess of certifcation.

No one too famous but some bloody rich people from Brazil, one house was the owner of a super market chain, probably the same as the owner of tescos or sainsburys in England. She had a gym in front of the garden if she was using the gym we couldnt go around to work because she didnt want anyone to see her in the gym, so far up them selfs but what can you do. Loads of other people with rich houses that have 5 sercuirty guards all armed with hand guns and you have do loads of sercurity checks and ID passes just to get in the door.

so what you did was double ending the rope, or using another rope to have two main anchor pionts??? yep thats a good one to know and your right always something new to learn almost every day.

I am not a big fan of the gym dont like that fact to have to pay for exercise, next to my house is a great running track usually full of drop dead gorgeous girls so I normaly do 2 11km runs a week, 1 during the week normaly after a lighter days work and 1 on a weekend sat or sun and then its just sit ups and push ups at home and throw in a odd game of football or cricket for fun. I dont have a the big upper body strength but its all about endurance for me. I would rather climb and prune 10 trees a day then remove 1 big monster and lugg around a 66 while climbing.

Yeah it gets hot mate and rains alot in the summer which cools things down a bit so it ok. Ilha grande havent been there but it has a great reputation, alot of tourist I think out on the lsland.
