  1. Without doubt the Skylotec Passo “Pinch” lock has three “mechanical” actions to open the gate. The Karabiner is PPE rated and certified by the TÜV in Germany and the gate is classified by SKYLOTEC as a “Pinch-lock”. AFAG 401 the UK “Guide to best practice” recommends that “Each karabiner used to connect the harness to a lifeline should have a spring-loaded self-locking gate that requires at least three distinct movements to open it.” It is down to the climber using the Passo to decide if the three mechanical actions of the Passo meets this criteria or that its "innovative design" make the gate too easy to open for use in the main line system. Everyone is entitled to make there own opinion and judgment and thank Arbtalk for the ability to discuss matters like these. Thanks to Rhys for raising the awareness that under unusual circumstances if you securely hold the karabiner then side load it in reverse you can (like other karabiners) open the gate. Hopefully any competent Arborist will be following the international drive towards preventing side loading any Karabiner by using tight spliced eyes or captivating the rope using a knot girth hitch or various products produced for this purpose. Rhys, BERGEN asked the question:” I'd also be very interested to know who the inspector with decades of experience is coz I've been inspecting for about 10 myself and I'd be keen to discuss his/her reservations.”

  14. Sorry Ian, i was in the States when you posted this and forgot to post an answer. The system was field tested by Reg and others over a period of time. We also had it tested by Salford University Acoustis Department for performace. The components used are taken from another tried and tested system used in the outdoors.
  15. The ISC RP055 has now been replaced with the RP055A1. See thread for more details: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/fletcher-stewart/33387-new-isc-rigging-pulleys-released-sale.html this pulley can accomodate rope 16mm to 20mm Please note: The EBAY seller listed is not an approved ISC Dealer and I would suggest supporting genuine retailers who can offer complete back-up to products supplied
  16. Thanks for the thumbs up and all views are valid and taken on board. Like all things cost is a factor and Galvanising would push the price up more sorry. Powder coating was the only other option available.
  17. Planned from day one to fit ladder rungs looks great thanks for sharing the pictures
  18. What a great show and thanks for sharing all the pictures; we had 3 great days on the STEIN USA stand and met some great people some with some very intresting stories to share. Reg flew in from Canada for the show and never stopped, thanks Reg for all your help and support. Roll on Baltimore next year..
  19. Hi Andy, this is correct the fitting will fit many other radios. We recommend the Mindland G7E XT as we have tested these over a period of time and this radio has proved to be excellent when operated near small powered equipment. Some cheap radios can be affected by this causing crackling and white noise.
  20. As a special order you can have one made in the right muff if you wish. 2-3 week delivery
  21. When we used them they fit perfect into the chest pocket on the STEIN Evolution Jackets. We also put the in empty First-Aid pouches on the harness, some actually put the radio into the large leg Trouser Pocket. There are also simple radio harness available. search google for Radio Holster
  22. Hi Brendon, I will have a demo set at TCI next-week, come along and have a go.
  23. Josh, so long as all your radios are tuned into the same channel you can have as many as you like. To communicate yes you hold the button in and release after you have spoken, we opted against VOX control as this system makes you think about what you are doing. Also with VOX system you will end up listening to everyones conversations which could distract you. The Midland Radios have a facility to beep before and after your communication, called ROGER BEEP. can you have one radio without the ear piece and one with working together? If you just wanted one Communication Device you can and the other person can just be holding the other radio - simple
  24. What price do you put on expertise???, glad you recieved the catalogue
