  1. My view is its 50 / 50 with chinese kit, got two cheap chinese saws still going well after several years. Fitted chinese replacement carb on 266, still ran well. Bit of a lottery. K

  9. I like climbing them, and a bit of silky work to thin out laterals so they dont clump up with needles or snow makes all the difference, pity it often gets left till its too late. K
  10. More context needed really - but over extending branches are a noticable problem, thankfully a thin or tip prune can make a lot of difference. K

  15. That. Dont like them planted, as a rule - they just grow into bother. Reduced scores of them to little effect. Fell and put a Cherry in. K
  16. Think that one was an old Bridgeport , hand traverses , no coolant jet on it . Watched a powered feed one do some blades , bloke just set it and went fr coffee ! K
  17. Surface grinder - there is about a ton and a half weight difference. No one should use a bench grinder to sharpen chipper knives ( at least not my knives ! ) K

  22. Also, a big factor will be if yr a 'stayer' and loyal to that company. Plenty o lads bugger off after collecting a wad of certificates. K
  23. Usually its a surface grinder with a jig to hold the blades at correct angles, used one at one company - bloody old thing with hand feed, a tedious job at best. Hard white grit stones. K
