  1. Bloody Hell, get to yr Dr, not kidding-Then get a Physio-therapist booked an make shure yr getting enough salt in yr diet- water is important too, blood test fr yr thyroid is worthwhile and get a leg ascendr too-to take the stress off yr arms on ascension. Take ( better ) care, K
  2. ......Ah HAH ! Now that I know, I'll shift it before I dump me next load.......MWah HAHA ! ( BUT Seriously- good boobytrap )
  3. I concur- £60 plus a hard-work bonus at the end of the week, this weeds out the w@nkrs. I he is good an a fast learner- he will soon get the big bucks- an not turn into an egotisicalclimber who thinks he should be paid for wiping his a......
  4. I would have stuck £25 on that price for the champagne -after I had finished it
  5. Firstly, this job is about work positioning for pruning/cutting. I have seen a lot of systems in my time plus a lot of climbers, I think the current stuff taught by instructors / colleges / LANTRA ect needs a big overhaul. Would like to see a LOT MORE COMMENT on this site on these matters. Safe work systems are either ignored or confuse / slow down new climbers who then end up adopting unsafe methods -to get the job done. Then we wonder why every year there is a steady batch of dreadful injuries/deaths. I climb with one rope and VT hitch, set as high as is practicable. When cutting ( or changeover ) -my cable strop is always around a secure branch- with this system I am always in balance ( reduced body stress + accurate cutting possition ) and cannot have a rope-cuthrough or fall of more than a meter or so. Hope this helps, K

  8. Never mind that-look at all the bloody leaves you've left in the guttering !
  9. God no! There are plenty of convenient alternative cuts to give a 'hang-on' peice so you can drop your saw. When I see climbers do this -it gives me the shitz. Sorry but a poor excuse. ( You are right-because youre inexperienced- is irrellevant )
  10. I concur, I started climbing with them and would still- However a spate of 3way Krab incidents have been posted-so their not fool-proof. You do actually make at least three distinct movements to lock them anyway.....
  11. Yes, absolutely, it is about risk and your health, just a £15 Krab-thats wot I spend on fags in a week ...........hmmm:blushing:
  12. Hmmmm, to be 'onest mate, that krab looks hammered-the trouble with aluminium is it work hardens ie gets brittle with use, that chip is a fracture point ( Also obscures the CE marking:blushing: -) and a few more knocks ( that you may not be aware of happening ) could lead to failure-though obviously your weight wouldn't do it on it's own. Sorry-I'd bin it -risky enough job as we all kno' K

  19. Hi DR - well twenty years ago I would have said Stihl, but since then I have had loads of bother with them esp' last five years ( German reunification ) just not good enough for the price- Huisq seem to have stayed on the level but got a bit plasticky, try Echo- I had their pruning saw for a while, an it was a little demon, but not as robust as the 020 Stihl- but on ballance-would still buy it again, K
