Shocked me on that, as most of the logs looked rotten shite- but remember Kevin runs a saw mill, he doesnt actually lumber jack, hence bringing in pro fallers at the end of the job. Possibly its in his head as sawn timber prices. I got the impression that ' claim' was picked up for the program, maybe one another contractor got kicked off from? K

Can you advise what needs to be done for this tree

A simple help for that tree is mulch soil underneath to stabilise soil moisture ( inch or two of chip or gravel) after you have hand weeded it or used geotextile mat before putting chip on. The damage is already there but the canopy is vigourous and will keep feeding the tree growth, giving it a chance of staying ahead of that decay. K -
@drinksloe yup, definately, not pissing aint a good sign either. Huge intakes of fluid upzets yr body, as those clubbers on drugs unfortunately found out ( Wot Lia Betts died from, sadly - not the drug but pressure on brain) teaspoon of salt in box of fruit juice is a good rehydrator. Tastes better too. K

I would say a Maple , no before pic sadly . K

If i see a group of Ash, similar age and form with same crown die back, i would lean towards ADB on visual assesment, but not on an individual tree, without poking further. K
