  1. Start a thread like normal, scroll down, 2 boxes under manage attachments you'll see Post a poll. hope that helps, if not, you need to change the way you view your editor, which is in the user cp, at the bottom of the page. User CP > edit options > Miscellaneous Options > change to either "Standard editor - Extra Formating controls" or "enhanced interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing"
  2. after trying to go for a run around my local park today. i realised that im fairly unfit, and only managed around 30mins, with a couple of wee breaks. I would be very greatfull if anyone can give my advice on training. e.g running, cycling. etc. Thanks in advance. Nick

  8. Ill pop down there this afternoon sometime.
  9. Recieved a reply to my email this morning, Ill put it in here. Hello Nick, yes this one has been in decline over a period of approx 5 years. I'd say that one of the causes for the decline in health was due to root disturbance and possible soil compaction during the refurbishment of Alex Park. I will be making a decision re the Beech this summer. All the best in your career, Thanks Chris Wilken
  10. found this on an old stump. as my fungi knowledge is very poor, im taking a wild stab (after looking on the web) at chicken of the woods? There seems to be alot of sweet chestnut around the old stump. Can anyone recommend a fungi book for beginners?
  11. Ok, Thanks David, im going to contact the hastings tree officer and see what he/she has to say and whether there was previously any fb last fall.
  12. I have been back today to try and get a closeup of the underside. hope it helps. See attached. I dont know the park keepers, unfortunately. but ill have a nosie around the hastings website, see what i can find.
  13. I was walking in the park today, and came across this Aesculus hippocastanum, twas a stunning tree, but when i looked closely at the trunk of the tree, it had loads of white leaves growing. Just wondered whats going on with it as ive not seen this before. could be bloody simple. Here is a link of a few photos of the trunk stitched together.(dont know whether it will work or not though) http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=e2028bfad6&view=att&th=12145f1abb41223d&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=f_furbzrdw0&zw and ill attach some close ups. -------------------- Also found what i think is a copper beech (fagus purpurea?) with survere die back in the crown. looked around the base of the tree to a fungi bracket,(2nd attached image) but im no good with fungi. so can some id it for me please.
