  1. The price of fuel is going to rise. Oil is becoming scarce and thus harder to extract. If we want to carry on earning a living using petrol and oil based engines, we're going to have to change the way we use petrol and diesel. Running smaller engines in our cars and trucks. etc etc. We have to be a part of the solution. If people keep running massive engines in their cars, it will make fuel more expensive for saws chipper etc, the tools that actually earn our living. Anyone putting my livelihood in jeopardy not my friend. blaming the government is not very proactive. Sure, if your already using organic yogurt to run your truck on, then by all means have a pop at them. But remove the plank from your own eyes first. Many think that they are just individuals, who individually can do nothing. but we are all in many groups, family, social, industrial and political. We are everyone and we can change things if we think globally and act locally. God that sounds sanctimonious! sorry don't have time to change it the mega corporations are about to close the supermarkets, and I've some panic buying to get on with. I love you all I cycled to work today. Got wet.
  2. Alas no Mackenzie Crook movie about us this time.. [ame] [/ame]
  3. Of course its legal to smoke dope in Amsterdam in coffee shops, which adds a new dimension. Ketamine is used for short surgery ops On expeditions. It's sold openly in chemists in the Himalayas. Course it might be out of your system well before a spot check back at work. So the actual drug check is flawed. The guys I know who do trees on the rail, have spot checks Personally I'd like to see idiot testing on a regular basis. Would be more effective in combating accidents.
  4. accepted. Incidences of tree surgeons on TV and film? The sopranos. Did anyone see that episode? Is this really a wind-up? Shame as it might be a laugh too. I bet we would have a time of it picking it to pieces.
  5. the word in isolation is just that. Try a little harder.
  6. Would I be right in thinking that I can say anything about anyone if I say `in my opinion'? It's weird us taking avatar names full stop, but it adds a little interest and mystery, and hopefully promotes thought and sometimes laughter. Jeez! you want to check out the members list for weird. I don't think it's that important to you what I call myself on here. It means a lot to me. So please leave it alone. in the meantime...the thread is about the film. Least we might cast troll like aspersions in your general direction.
  7. if it's progressive i love it more than the air itself.
  8. Sorry, didn't mean to rip anyone to bits. Golly! your very sensitive this afternoon. That's not ripping, you've never seen ripping. Gentle jibe that's all. I thought there was general consensus, that posts with just LOL or smilies were considered bad practice. Obviously I got that wrong. Many apologies, I shall post more in the future.
  9. Keeping alive the names of those who have died in the name of truth is not bad taste. Unless you are a member of the secret police responible for her death. I dont crtisise other peoples avatars, but if it's open season, then can we have it in black and white from a moderator or SB? Back on topic?
  10. are you stalking me?
  11. Your a swede? You should Know. It's a statement of intent. Cats
  12. What is this film? where did you see this picture? why has it been made? who made it, who is in it? when can I see it? or....whatwherewhywhowhen?
  13. whatwherewhywhowhen?
  14. Awesome post. Incisive intelligent. Adds much to the forum. Outstanding. We could learn a lot from your words of wisdom.
  15. Watching U.S. police camera action type shows. I notice that often they will perform a sobriety test on drivers suspected of drink driving. Based on the opinions on this thread. Outside of a legal framework, A similar, but arb based drugs test could be implimented. This would seem like a good compromise. Those who feel, that some people are 100% competent when under the influence would be happy as the test is not prejudiced against drug use per say. Those in favor of testing would be placated because this cuts straight to the chase. Is the point that we reduce accidents in the workplace or is it about prosecution, mis direction of public funds for political advantage or something else? I don't know. Just brain storming. On a personal front. If the drugs aren't altering your mind. why are you doing them? I think the synergy of narcotics and chainsaws is potentially devastating. Rancid black coffee and a harsh rollup are work drugs. The reason I climb trees is because I find it exciting. A proper big tree in perfect weather. No drugs required. It does it for for me everytime. If this was a musicians forum the thread would be quite different. The Cliff Richard V's Led Zeppelin no brainer. Sorry, went on a bit there.
  16. This is the future. Google `peak oil'. Then develop new skills not reliant on the petrochemical industry. All a bit depressing really. I liked being a tree surgeon.
  17. hello Bundle, what bit are you not with me on?
  18. I think the previous ebay suggestion is good. Ebay searches can be saved and you can be sent an email when the item appears on the site. As previously mentioned; Nods worked hard to build up his business. We should cast our nets wide for the culprits. The Stolen list is a great idea. Would it be possible to cross reference with other forums Steve?
  19. An un-named moderator is gulty of this exact point. I pointed it out and was edited by same mod. Draw your own conclusions.
  20. I know. you great hunk of wood you.
  21. I think a woman who can hold her own in such a male dominated industry should be applauded. Its generally the case that if a woman can be successful in such a climate, then it follows that she is much better than her contemporaries as she has so many extra things to battle against. 19 century thinking and normally less body strength to name but two. Anna for president!
  22. if it were true, which its not. I'd take youthful ignorance over old age and weekly visits to the osteopath any day. I thought trees are life's post was so outrageous that it must have been a joke. Rather upsetting that it turns out not to be. I actually thought the first vid was better, and actually liked the slo-mo rope shot. But what do I know? I love you all.
  23. six of one
  24. Nice to see the tree world is at the cutting edge of environmental awareness. Many large engined 4x4's are tools and despite their world wrecking credentials are essential to get the job done. The likes of the X5 et al are vanity vehicles and nothing more. The BMW brand equity is all about showing off how much money you're prepared to spend on a car (not how much money you've got, as aspirational BMW owners spend more % wise than most others) nothing more. I'm interested to know what motivates someone to wear such a low moral code on their sleeve. Saddam Hussein chic. Meanwhile the third world starves. Well done! Oh and no-one say `jealous!' as its an old and worn out retort with no value.
  25. I will get round to posting at some point.
