  1. is it hydrolic or pto
  2. Im currently looking to purchase a new log splitter either a towable or tractor mounted (at the moment just wieghing the pros and cons). What im more interested in finding one with a fast action ram along with atleast 10-20 ton ram. I recall seeing one on here a year or two ago but have been unable to find what im looking for:001_huh: I dont want to go down the processor route as i dont actively push firewood. Any thoughts? Apologies if this has been covered before searched threads without joy:confused1: Cheers Dave:thumbup1:
  3. will it not pull through from behind the oil pump? To be honest its only designed to be cleaned, if its still ok just wash your tank out and that should be fine. Dont make work for yourself.
  4. Thats what drives the pump. the clutch drum engage's the nylon drive via 2/3 lugs which in turn drives the pump, if the threads are worn it wont drive the worm gear so you dont get any lubrication:thumbdown: Did you manage to get the clutch off yourself?
  5. What do you mean by piston stop? Can I just put a thick metal bar through the plug hole? definatly not:thumbdown: On the clutch there are arrows pointing clockwise with OFF on it. I take it this is the direction I have to turn the clutch to turn it off? yes. Turn the sprocket in that direction until it stops against the piston stop/rope and then wind off with a socket. If you are really not sure about what your doing then i would get someone who knows what there doing to do it for you:thumbup1:
  6. hope these help:thumbup1:
  7. The weak link should be the whinch, everything should be rated equal or idealy above the maximum pulling capacity of the whinch. so in theory the whinch should just stop or allow the cable to be released if the tree goes against the direction of fell:thumbup1:.
  8. Ive seen this report before. Im just not sure that anything will ever really be achieved with Natural England at the helm, there bureaucracy and form filling tends to put land manages and owners off, this along with government cut backs may well see a workable idea shelved:thumbdown:
  9. no, not at all i dont care what your views are. i just find them blinkered. In your part of the world you obviously have lots of bunnies and the wildlife is in abundance. We are not so lucky, due to over grasing and a lack of habitat management we have have lots of vermin and not a lot of anything else. This is why we are actively trying to increase habitat through the introduction of SSSI's and ESA's and along with a small amount vermin control we are now starting to see a turn around.
  10. When the RSPB trap mink to protect the bitten its called conservation management. when a gamekeeper traps stoats to protect ground nesting birds its called unessassary killing of poor little creatures that were destined for a leading role in the next disney production:thumbup:
  11. Don't have many pheasants either, but you never know one day we might have:thumbup:
  12. That was the reaction i expected
  13. no, cos we'll shoot the rabbits along with the foxs. What you mean to say is watch the gloden plover and the oyster catches and the English partridge and the lap wings and the curlew numbers grow all of which are not in abundance:thumbdown:
  14. no, we don't have many rabbits or many weasels just loads of squirels and Stoats
  15. A few pictures from my trap lines today
  16. do you mean the worm drive or oil pump unit?
  17. check the nylon worm drive at the back of the sprocket, you will need to remove the clutch drum to get to it. remove spark plug and insert a piston stop or suitable peice of climbing rope to stop the piston then remove clutch which will be an opposite thread.

  24. I would have to agree. But until certain members of society are given the status of vermin ill stick to squirrels:sneaky2:
