  1. A friend of my dad's told me this story, some of his relatives have a lab and a couple of kids, the dog was fine with kids but one day they heard a scream from the lounge and ran in to find the dog ahd one of the kids by the arm. The dog was just holding the arm and had'nt done any damage, they could'nt understand why it had happened until they discovered a wax crayon sticking out of the dogs arse.
  2. I tried to find it on the net but could'nt so no pics, apparently the dog was some sort of record breaker, I was told this by a neighbour though.
  3. Whilst its not law to have NPTC as such if an employee dies or is injured whilst carrying out a task for which he does'nt have a ticket then the employer can end up in jail. Likewise even a sole trader could end up in trouble if there was an accident involving a member of the public if he had'nt got the required ticket for the task. I'm not saying I agree with this but that's the way it is. A solution might be tougher tests, when I did 39 I was the last to be tested so i agreed to be a dummy for a guy who was re-sitting his 38. He had 40 mins to get me down and he needed most of them, IMO 20 or 25 mins would be better and the 5 days training should be spaced out over a period of weeks or months so the candidate could get some experience and then sit a tougher exam.
  4. Great story in the local rag recently, man broke into house only to be confronted by 23 stone bull mastif, aparently he left without taking anything.
  5. I used to be able to ladder tights with the skin on my hands... then I discovered Crabtree & evelyn Gardeners hand recovery cream. Actually the mussus did and made me use it and it really works. She prefers soft hands, I drew the line at the manicure she suggested though.
  6. Shame to fell itm, I think those old boys just wanted to play with their toys. I saw an advert in the Agrimart for a guy with an old 6x6 winch truck like that, he was using it to winch out bogged combines, probably did a roaring trade this harvest.
  7. OUCH!! Not too bruised I hope. Did the biker stop?
  8. Oak burns best when burned with something else. just hardwoods is probably the way to go for a premium product.
  9. I'll not post the location yet in case I decide to climb one. Let me know if you want to come.
  10. For the 51.8% who are'nt convinced, wpold'nt you find these tempting? Took the clinometer for a walk this afternoon, several silver firs around the 55M mark and one douglass at 60M!!! I measured it three times. I know its bad but I'm not sure how much longer I can resist. [ame=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kc2GaCRpleo]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kc2GaCRpleo[/ame]
  11. I just ate one, a Craster one too, best in the world.
  12. I'll stick it on santa's list.
  13. With those dimensions not quite but almost.
  14. Everyone should have one. I was fishing once wading in a river when an otter appeared about 10 feet away, it would - will be great to capture moments like that. Got mine from dog cam sports, very helpful guys. I actually did'nt want to spend all that much and originaly ordered the VholdR. As soon as i had though i sort of regreted it (for no real reason) and when it came I had a problem getting it to talk to my pc ( probably the pc's fault ) any way dog cam said send it back and i thought **** it its only money and got the POV. Both the pov and the vholdr are very well built and in some ways the vholdr is better but the pov has more features and its totally waterproof ( the dog cam guys take it surfing apparently) the vholdr is water resistant.
  15. If I saw one of those at a farm sale i'd snap it up streight away.
  16. Just the one lens, its 110 degrees which is quite wide i think. as to the quality i recorded at 25 fps and 720 x 480 but i compressed the file to 70 odd MB cause other wise it would have taken about 3 days to upload, out here in the stix i only get 1meg broadband. You're right though it looks miles better on the pc. I had'nt realised how much you move your head or how fast, next time i'll try to be more steady.
  17. Me too, not that it really matters, having a lazy day today.
  18. Just a hitchclimber mate, the utube video quality makes it hard too see stuff. I was using a four wrap martin hitch tied in samson 'bail out', I keep the legs really short so it does'nt sit back. On the bit towards the end when I was going back up for the pulley I was using a loop sling between the harness and the hitch climber so I can pull underneath it.
  19. Had a play with the POV1 on friday whilst pruning some scrappy poplars. It was'nt a good day; a subbie did'nt show and the weather was ****, windy, and showery ( each time i went up ). I also ****** up taking the video as i did'nt keylock the pov and it switced itself off twice, hence I install a pulley and then it cuts to me in the next tree ( I missed all the rigging ). It was good to have a go with it and I have learned a few things like I pointed the camera too high and the mike only picked up my clothes rustling and my swearing ( I hate ivy ). Any way I wanted to learn how to edit and upload so i made something of what I had... Steven Speilberg I ain't. 20. I'm not much good with a side by side, but i'm worse with an over and under. Used to drive the "beaters cart" on a local shoot and would have a bit of fun on the keepers day with a borrowed gun. I'd love to get one now but just like my fishing hobby i'd probably never find time to do it. Enjoy the season.
  21. You think its bad here, try Paris, never seen so much poo.
  22. Great pics, I've been trying to persuade the missus to go for a while, wish we'd been last year when the pound was so strong.
  23. Cool, are you a side by side man or over and under.
