  1. Friday for me, bring on shiny things... see all you reprobates there!
  2. I happen to have a pair of the x21's and they are absolutely spot on! Kept me warm and dry in the snow...
  3. If you're up for a bit of reading, Mark's Daily Apple is quality. It's makes sense and works a treat. I mean look at the guy, he barely works out and he's mid fifties! The nutrition side of it will definitely cure the hunger pangs, and you will be surprised just how varied the timing of your meals can be without losing energy or getting hungry. Have fun!
  4. Spot on, sounds like a proper plan. Can the same person who brought the weather with them bring it next time, I'd like a bit of sun?! Good set of piccies, scary to think how beer/cider will influence them... See you all there I hope, Toby.
  5. Absolutely cracking day, good to meet up with all you guys and shoot the breeze! Many thanks to Richard for the venue, him and Andy for a glimpse of their vast rigging knowledge, Justin for the shiny kit and the killer bbq, Plippy for being the ringmaster/buying stuff off me and everyone for turning up. Sure I've missed someone... Bring on the next one... can the same person bring the weather again too? Ben, I think Andy might have given you the wrong email, PM me what you got and if it's different to the one I have I'll let you know. Mick, you have PM... Regards all Toby/
  6. Mint! I should check teh interwebs more often! I shall see you guys there, with snarlers for the bbq.. If anyone needs a lift from J6 M25 way, let me know. There's no rain Sunday, I've just ordered buy one get one free sunshine! Here's hoping, T.
  7. What a lovely selection... I would also be very interested in a price if it's still available. Regards Toby.
  8. Bias I know, but good choice Mr Lofthouse... May it bring you some trouble free surfing! Regards, Toby.
  9. Eset NOD32 for me... the least intrusive and most effective I've found. Nothing particularly wrong with the other suggestions, but this is good value, very effective and very 'quiet' (doesn't endlessly bother you). Doesn't eat system resources either... Have fun!
  10. I await the opinions on the gloves, they've got to be better than the socks! Like bin bags, waterproof but sweaty!
  11. Good tip... I like a sharp knife. Unfortunately... T.
  12. Sigh. Inspired by Mozza's earlier thread, I thought I'd post damage from an even more innocent pastime. The washing up. Sorry for the appalling quality (phone's a bit bashed up), but that is a photo of my thumb after trying to catch a kitchen knife post washing up... muppet. With a severed tendon. This is 2 weeks, 1 2hr operation, and plenty of injections later... I'd just passed my CS38, had my 39 almost booked, some part time industry work coming up and things were looking up. (I love this arb stuff, even if I'm almost full time sport turf etc at the mo) I'm not out of the splint for 3 weeks and can't climb until the end of January at best. Oh well, at least someone else has to drive to (and more importantly back) from the pub! Thanks in advance to all you people that keep the forum ticking over and my arb drip running! Toby. P.S If you can afford a dishwasher, go for it.

    boots

Waterproofing? Ranapur (sp?) every time. 30 secs per boot occasionally, keeps them tip top. Not sure on Haix though, never had any!
  14. Or use a bait bucket: KATCH KARP green BAIT BUCKET HANDLES /ZIP COVER pukka on eBay (end time 11-Aug-09 02:13:15 BST) This is just the first one I could find, I've got one quite similar. Bombproof and just as easy as a cube! T.
  15. If I were a guessing man, it could be a dolmar 152... looks very similar indeed... I use Chain Saw Collectors Corner - Gasoline Chain Saws by Manufacturer for most of my 'what is that?' moments. Hope this helps. Regards T
  16. Meep, thanks for the info and the link. Sorry it's been such a late reply, I had to buy a new keyboard as the old one decided I didn't need half the alphabet... Never was the most organised individual. You're right about applying stuff backed up with knowledge from a soil sample, you never know where builders have dumped a ton of chalk until you have a look... Hopefully we should get some sent to the lab at the same time as some of our turf samples. I've had a look at the Mycospikes we've been sent a sample of and the main mycorrhiza present appear to be pisolithus tinctorus and rhizopogon fulvigleba/villosuli, which are ectophytic I think... and there's the usual selection of 6-10-10, Fe and Mg. It's all new to me, I've got some trees lined up to try things out on that need the help, we shall see how they do. Regards Swooop
  17. I've been moping around on the climbing front recently, as I'm not even working in the industry and I don't get many opportunities to practice, but Capel really cheered me up. Thanks to all the people just talking shop and a huge thanks to the treeworker guys for the shiny things and putting up with me hanging around like a bad smell, trying to learn the plethora of set ups in that tree. It was so good in fact, I've just been for a (very slow, nooby) climb in the glorious sunshine. I'm still naff, but here's hoping... Take care of yourselves, I hope it's not just me getting the BBQ out tonight... Regards Swooop
  18. Oooh, good stuff to throw in there monkeyd. I know a little about the turf grass stuff, a mix of endophytic mycorr and chicken manure, more research need for the tree stuff. Time to read the manual, thanks for giving me a direction. Regards Swooop
  19. Anyone had any experience with these? I've used quite a bit of mycorrhizal feed on sports turf and it's had excellent results, just wondering what their tree stuff is like? I'm sure I've got a sample pack somewhere, but just thought I'd seek some expert opinions. Cheers Swooop
  20. I've got to say the only thing that worked for me was Allen Carr's Easyway to stop smoking (not that Allen Carr...). I thought a book would do nothing for me and I didn't really want to stop smoking, but I read it (it's not scary or 'you're going to die' at all) and got to the end and haven't smoked since and it wasn't hard. That was 3 years ago... Hope all goes well! T. Link: [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/0141026898/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238364463&sr=8-1[/ame]

    Top knots!

Thanks guys, it's not long now (wednesday) and you've done well to stop the panic. Them be wise worder treesurfer, my brains small enough as it is... I shall stick to the common responses (bowline etc) and not overwork my wee mind! craigie, I've seen a couple of animated knots sites, but not (!) that one, ta. Cheers all! Swooop

    Top knots!

Cheers guys, that's the sort of thing I was looking for, a few hints and tips for the noob! I'm lucky enough to have a copy of the treeclimbers knotbook in the post, but not the treeclimber's companion. Is it a good investment? Plenty of homework here then, and as I'm self financed, I want to make the most of all the training I get. Looking forward to it / bricking it in equal quantities... Regards Swooop
  23. Evening chaps! First off thanks for making such a useful and entertaining forum... Just thought I'd pick your brains, if I may. I'm a noob with CS 30/31 under my belt and CS 38/39 booked soonish, and was wondering which knots you would recommend perfecting for the beginner and which ones you find the most useful in everyday life. It's probably a bit of a week area for me, no scouts when I was a lad... Ta, Swooop
  24. Sound plan, I'm in.

    020T Problems

I know the part you speak of, and I'm 99% sure it got replaced as we had a carb kit in stock, but I shall check and have a look at it anyways in case of 'storage error' or somesuch. Thanks for the advice Cheers Swooop
