  1. Some Meindl Moonboot sorry Airstreams, a Cocoon, a silky, some slings, some naff pasty and beer. Nothing to keep me warm though... Cheers to all I met, was a quality weekend, thanks to Justin for the shiny things and the hospitality!
  2. http://www.treebuzz.com/pdf/Apr07-cc.pdf A 'closed' version of the Blakes it seems. Blakes is a good hitch, add a hitchclimber and it can't be a bad idea...
  3. Like your avatar Plippy you goon. Good to meet up with some fellow Arbtalkers (a pleasure to meet you Mr Blair, hope you enjoyed the mogs...!) and ogle an all manner of shiny things... Spent too much an am absolutely zombified... Need sleep and a guff free night. Regards all T.
  4. I've used several, and they are not without their pitfalls. They don't really save that much time, as if you're just tickling a chain it's quicker to hand sharpen and if you're doing a rocked out chain you might have to do two passes to avoid overheating the teeth. Far less effort though! Well set there shouldn't be appreciably more wastage of chain and it's good for returning to 'base setting' if a chain's a bit wonky. You get what you pay for grinder wise and YMMV with operator. That's not very conclusive but hope it helps.
  5. I'd steer well clear of the Navara, clutch not well designed, gearing funny and they squeak alot. The rest I can't vouch for...
  6. I'm really just a lurker that should get involved a bit more, especially as the site and the people I've met through it have dragged my off my sorry ass at points to have enough self belief to make some major changes in my life... or at least try! I only hope to repay some of the clear thinking moments I've had. Might have to be with beers until I think of some sound advice...! Thanks for putting up with me. T.
  7. Yupsh, I'll be there Friday and hungover Saturday I'd imagine...
  8. That looks quality. Time for some demos methinks...
  9. Relative of Char I believe. Oh God.
  10. They both stay in hotels Not that I've met either. Except Bear's cousin Bacon.
  11. Very helpful bloke he is. In fact it was probably you that pointed me there in the first place!
  12. Ditto, all opinions are extremely useful, at the very least it gives us some people to visit at the APF!
  13. I like the sound of a camp fire, but I might have to find somewhere with a shower if I plan on doing 2 days of APF and interacting with people. Waking up in a ditch not remembering how I got there seems to be where this is heading...
  14. I've been looking into allsorts (both arb specific and general GPS/GIS) and Pear do look like a good bunch. Have you looked at digiterra? Looks to be a very capable software with some arb plugins, had a wee chat with a very helpful bloke called Dave at Ormston technology. Not cheap though, but is any of it?
  15. This is something I shall definitely be looking into, as the mapping part of a tree survey takes time, and we had a big bill and a hand annotated map last time we had a survey done... wouldn't it be nice to find a better way... Here's to the APF and hoping they have some nerdy GIS/GPS stands:cool1:
  16. What defines excessive? :beerchug: You've got have enough to get you to sleep well...!
  17. either that or Springslade lodge @ ws12 4pt ... ooh decisions...!
  18. Excellent, although we have no location yet, this thread is in the intended spirit. Mine's a bourbon.
  19. I can see this getting out of hand! LOL
  20. That's what I hoped for, but apparently not? Would like a place with other drink prone/tree climbing weirdos, as opposed to pensioners...
  21. Thanks for lowering to tone Mick No beers for you. Let me rephrase that. Anyone too cheap for a hotel got any recommendations for a field for someone to sleep in? (who is incapable of finding his way out of a paper bag and therefore must be near the show?)
  22. Right own up, who's camping at the APF? Is there anywhere good? (I know some said stay away from Tackeroo...) I'm likely going to make it and looking to minimize the pain of being without luxury five star accommodation... and if there is an Arbtalk approved/populated site... I'm bringing beer... Any advice greatly appreciated, see you nutters there for a shopping and a few beverages. Regards, T.
  23. Very surprised clearview weren't in there... they are rather good.

    Thank you

Couldn't agree more with the comments above (the good points!) it was a cracking event, and definitely puts one over the AA show with camping and atmosphere... I for one would happily pay an entrance fee... Mick's point about the hangar I hadn't thought of until I realised I left it till last for that exact reason... food for thought. Almost got away with the weather too! Big thank you to all, hopefully I can do something to help next year.
  25. Much as I hate to sound like a stuck record, HUGE thanks to The Jones Crew, Kingswood and all who made the event possible and that mahoosive! There was good kit, good demos, seminars and a wealth of knowledge to mine. Oh and shiny things... The Arbtalk element makes everything even more entertaining ("Who are you?" "What's your actual name?" etc..) and I'm glad the bar did swift business... Looking forward to next year or perhaps flexing my beer arm at the APF. Can't come soon enough! P.S Bolam = Legend.
