  1. Interesting,Yeah we practice altogether every 6 months.I think your right,stuck between a rock and a hard place.
  2. Thanks for the long reply,Im only on the crew so we make our daily target,do tricky/big stuff.We have 3 set crew (x2 3man,x1 2man crews) and the other crews all have competant climbers, Its frustrating,will have a team meeting to sort it, Cheers
  3. Hi, Just wondering who has access lines in the tree whilst working in case of an emergency and from what size tree? (ie anything above 10m) I work in a 2man crew and im the main climber and groundy has climbing kit but isnt a very competant climber,and i wouldnt trust him to rescue me tbh, Company is all about health and saftey,have mentioned my concerns to foreman, What should i do,my life on the line??
  4. Mark,I have a small 15cm sling set as a prussic on the none working end and a fishermans attached to my side,means u can create a smaller loop of the excess rope and wont get caught up,then if you need the whole lanyard move it the then end. My lanyard is about 4m.

  6. Think im going to stick it out here,The shakes have pretty much stopped.Also work has got really busy again (people want trees removed so the dont get shaked over onto there house.Funnily enough i got offerd a job in hastings through and i didnt have anything to do with it.

  11. Pin oak removal. Lot of weight going over towards neighbours house and client worried about earthquake knocking it over, All rigged down the hiab for wood(first time with hiab truck) Trunk going to get milled also.

  13. Far out,thats crazy!.was 1000 times more powerful than out quake apparently.Tusnami warnings here,but dont think it will come to anything.

  18. Hey guys. I am heading back to scotland soon due to the quake and work slowing down here in Christchurch, Looking for any climbing/forestry work in the south west/Edinburgh area. A little bit about me, I attended the Barony college and gained NC in forestry and SVQ 2 in Arboriculture,Have been climbing for 3 years and grounding for 2.Have been employed by Beaver tree service for the last 5 years in Christchurch,Reference available. Have basic NPTC,Climbing,areial rescue,use of chainsaw in the tree,Chipper/stump grinder,Fell small/medium trees and maintain saw.(sorry forgot the numbers) Currently undertaking NC in arb through NZHITO Will send a more detailed CV.   19. I cant get on with mine,Visor is a complete waste of time.One of my visor screw is stuck on so cant get it off unless i snap the visor. Petzl is best.

Hi people.Thanks for the messages.Well Im now in wellington,Where i live is just over the hill from the epicenter (lyttleton) and it was very shallow (5k deep)I was at home at the time,Knocked me to the floor everything was shaken to the floor.Was very loud too.,House is all good (made of timber frame).I was in central city 20mins before it happend.Also got evacuated of our hill due to large cracks in the cliff face but allowed back for the time being. Was very scary this time Thanks again.
