  1. :proud:Well since you dont need any of them its personal choice i just think they show your commited to the job.
  2. I know but there are alot in my area and yes they do have qualifications and insurance. There not stupid round here remember NPTC is money if you have enough you will pass one way or the other and these guys aint skint. They roll about in proper flash motors.
  3. Some of this is true. Please will people stop saying you need NPTC to get insurance this is totally wrong. I Went through many quotes and the company that offered me the best deal did not ask for NPTC. And many of the other insurers did not ask for NPTC since there are other ways to proove your competance. Previous company you worked for how many years etc. Just dont lie and make sure you are covered for every aspect of what you do.
  4. NPTC is not a government body or a requirement in law. NPTC was set up to offer climbers the ability to proove they are at least competant. Some councils and commercial business request you show these. But many accept without. The most important thing in arb work is you are fully insured thats period.
  5. Well i agree everyone should be insured thats much more important than nptc. As many pikeys are actually fully qualified they have the money to do the courses and they are insured. The pikeys have the brand new trucks and chippers but alot do bad work but still get plenty of work
  6. :proud:Yeah but you live on the moon thats the internet price from abbeys
  7. Theres no replacement for displacement. On a two stroke engine most restrictions are put on exhaust design. Let more air in more air out and correct the fuel mixture and thats the way the cookie crumbles. you could port and polish the block and cylinder head maybe increase the jets on the carb any onme done this.
  8. So true most climbers dont want more people starting feel they will loose work which is true. They started the same way but now they have the gear insurance tickets etc they want everyone else to or they get called a pikey or cowboy. Me i dont mind some healthy competition.
  9. And try not to pull ya cacks down in the tree not a nice sight:scared:
  10. Always wear gloves take alot of work out of griping the rope.
  11. Minimum business start up stihl 200t and ropes and harness thats it. Thats how i started and when you have more wedge you get the rest. All this get a chipper insurance etc you cant afford that right away. One step at a time and youll get there.
  12. Pete are you a grammar and english teacher??. Its just for those who dont know this a shortened version of a word. But you did not answer the question.
  13. Yep stihl are lowering there standards. Although rarely have i blown an engine well never so they make them well just the add ons that are poop.
  14. I did hope for a better performance tuned the carb right up on the high jet set the low jet runs fine but did not really out do my standard. But like i said its a 5 year old saw vs a new one. And the exhaust was caked in coke which i left. Pete what exactly did you do to you 200t same zorst hole and just dial up the carb:bawling:
  15. You start the day with 10 fingers 10 toes make sure you end the day with them. There is no substitute for saftey always think is your life worth the price of a job. Always check your climbing gear every single use this is a must. Make sure every saftey feature on your saw is working dont use broken saws. If it feels unsafe then it is avoid any situation which your not comfortable in. COMMON SENSE LADIES.
  16. Yeah i want it cutting through 10 inch limbs like butter. I hate it when you have to slow down and keep the revs up. Its a great saw but we would not mod them if they were perfect. Im off to test my newly modded 200 now so see ya later ill post the comparison between standard new 200t and modded one.
  17. :wave:I think stihl WAS about making quality tools now there about making as much money its better for there business if our tools keep breaking. I had the main handel break the plastic ring around the rear vib mount. Had to replace the whole fcukin handel. Chains are cheap now i noticed oregon have half the cutting length as stihl dont waste money on them false economy. Thing is stihl is good but only cos it has no direct rival husky make good saws but there top handel sucks if they made one as good as stihl id switch. I want more hp from my 200t standard or they should offer upgrade kits.
  18. I want a mini turbo put on a 88 or a top handel would make cutting so smooth. lol. Just compared my 2 200ts and the modded one was not really great noticed no difference except noise BUT im not comparing apples for apples unmodded 200 was new modded 200 is really old new one had 14inch ther 12inch. But my new one was better tho i noticed the modded 200 kept going when i pushed it in hard sounds really gay. So conclusion not worth voiding your warranty Pete how do you find yours compared
  19. Using the 660 and did think how flimsy the plastic handel guard is i can bend it with my hand Stihl are starting to use lower quality parts and rely on the name the made on older model tools. For what they cost you dont get alot a 200t is now gone up from £430-470 why is that then. They are using cheaper parts and upping the price. The reason the carbs went wrong is stihl tried a cheaper manufacturing process which clearly fcuked up. Hopefully tanaka and husky will make a equal rival to the top handel stihl then we might see a product war between them good for customers. Things are alot more expensive then they were fact petrol food utility bills road tax tax everything has gone up except wages.
  20. Same hear i offer the service but most dont want to pay unless they need the stump out the way easier to just leave it.
  21. :wave:Not im my experiance you get tired from climbing maybe sometimes abit stressed when your rigging over a house.
  22. Just put some muffs on and revved it full listen for the flat spot and just tuned it in maybe hald turn cant remember. Ill do a fair test might even film them and post them. Pete had any negative affects once modded your 200t
  23. I will get a grcs and really push it should load tonne lumps for that price is this about right guys.
  24. Not as hard as you prob thought i bet. Look forward to a life in the tree is not half bad.
  25. Not sure i know what a cut is pete. i run it sounded sweet really pokey i will test it on a log tommoro and compare against my new 200t.
