  1. Daf cars used to use the same system, then the small Volvos, reliable enough, and the dafs used to go as fast in reverse as they did forward. God, I'm showing my age now
  2. They don't have National Insurance Numbers.. Problem is you have got to feed and water them. Because the yard is 800 yards from my house, I would forget, sometimes, it could be a few days before I go in my yard, weekends etc.
  3. That is exactly the problem, you will have to prove by receipt where you have tipped your chip, if you are stopped and questioned
  4. I'll try your suggestion first Charlieh, it makes sense. If it does give me a decent belt and not a tickle, I'll invest in one of those 6 watt solar panel chargers, should keep the battery something like and might add a bit of poke to the shock.
  5. Edit: Nice one Dean  Know what you mean about unfriendly, went off to the co-op type shop going toward Caernarfon just past the marina to get some munchies while we were out. Two women in the shop were talking english, I asked them where the hoola hoops were in broad yorkshire and they then carried there conversation on from there in Welsh. I just put all the stuff I had got at the till, told them to cash it up while I got my wallet out the car and didn't go back.
  6. Ed, I see you from near beaumoris. Must be a rough area though, went there last year to a campsite either in or just outside Beaumoris and there was a sign on entering the camp. Read something like. No camp fires No noise after 9pm No ball games No Shooting No F@@king what!!! I said when I saw it. Seriously though, nice area, my mates got a boat at Port Dinorwic, down there regular fishing on the swillies and out beyond the bar. Wrote the boat off six months ago on that depth pole in the middle of the swillies Cost about 25K I think to put it right. He nearly hit it once before that, he's a nightmare. My mates Chinese and hes bought some land I think in Caenarfon or might even be near Port Dinorwic. He's going to build a Chinese resturant, sometime hopefully in the next twelve months or so, depending on how slow planning drag their @rses. We will be going on the opening night, normally some free food and beer, see if I can get you an invite, he'll need local support. His isn't your standard chinese restraunt, it's a bit more chilled and trendy, ie you can just go in the bar and have a bar meal with decent music playing. He also has live acts normally twice a week. Will be good when it's up and running, I'll try and find out exactly where.
  7. First photo is the damage they did to one container last time by attaching a chain to the bars and pulling them off, then hooking chain under door and bending it out. Second photo is first stage of anti pikie devise, sit container on rubber pads. Third photo is second stage, buy a 10,000 volt electric fence energiser. I was told it may not work because of the Mass of the container. So, just to be fair, I will hook it up tomorrow and try it myself, when I come out of hospital, I will give you an update. ....and if anyone asks, it's to stop them damb foxes pissing on my container, it stinks!
  8. Eh ??????????????????????????
  9. Just remember putting a redirect in above your mainstem anchor point will double the loading on the redirect branch
  10. IMO there are some brave people who have never used one. Either that or they are brain dead Edit: not a fair comment Braind dead if they have climbed a dodgey tree and not used one knowing they were taking a risk
  11. Does that mean anyone who uses a Mewp is a pansie?
  12. As steve said, too many variables. If a limb goes out at a 45 degree angle and you anchor on the end of it, it is acting as a lever to fail further down. I just pick a bomb proof branch and as brendon says, put your rope in so if the side branch fails it is still round the main stem. If unsure use two anchor points
  13. Try checking the relays under the top feed roller cover. There should be two. Waggle them first see if there is a loose connection. If it persists, try swapping the relays with ones you know are ok, they are, I am certain a standard relay same as you find on a car. If this doesn't work I'm afraid it's wiring diagram and test meter
  14. At the end of the day, it's another money raising gimmik. It's a right load of B0llocks Before long we will have to have meters attached to our arses to measure methane expulsion for greenhouse gas taxes
  15. Registered for the newsletter and ordered a brochure.
  16. Cheers Log-ologist, I owe you a drink. Here's the pics, finished the job this morning, there's going to be a wooden seat placed inside the horseshoe.
  17. And there's me thinking you liked big toys
  18. I know which you mean, the ones on this new 357 are ok now, they undo by hand and only need to be finger tight. Haven't had to use a screwdriver on them at all yet, not even in todays freezing temps
  19. Todays job was for my accountant. He made me 6 cups of coffee, but there again, I still owe him £550.
  20. It is going to be a chair, but not the stump, the raised flower bed is going to have a seat put in. That had crossed my mind believe it or not. Ruled it out straight away though. You could have got the mog backed right up to a wall and if the reach was like Skyhucks it would have got it.
  21. You must bear in mind that we are talking about my situation after nearly being killed in a mewp. You do not have to find an anchor point. I am only saying what I do now after my experience and using the "same" Mewp that tried to kill me. I will anchor onto even a dead tree, the chances of the mewp doing it again are very very slim and the chances of me testing that anchor point for real is very slim, it just gives me peace of mind, otherwise I would not get in a mewp again. I can go up a tree 90ft and move around in the crown no problems. But I would be terrified going up 95ft in a mewp free air, it is phsycological I know, but I cannot ever fully trust one again, too many things can go wrong or fail. The company I bought the mewp off, asked me to go in another machine, because told them it had affected my trust in them, I got 20ft up and sh1t myself. I have found I can get over that fear by attaching an anchor point
  22. Yes, but what if the car cost £42,000 and to be able to take it back you had to spend £30,000 minimum in order to prove legally that the car was at fault and not your driving. Then you are left with a £42,000 car, your not telling me that after finding the fault and remedying it, that you would then just stand there admiring your £42,000 car and not use it. Taking into account that you would only use it where third parties can't be injured.
