  1. It's hard kicking the habit Ed. I have to be at appointments 5 minutes before I'm due. If it looks as though I'm going to be late I get really anxious, to the point where I have thought about getting help. Sometimes I will set off really early and have to sit in a layby nearby for 20 mins or so, it's a nightmare. Got over the creases in my trousers stage though
  2. LOL, yeh that's probably what it was, he just road tested the container defense system.
  3. Just seen one of my neighbours topping his 8ft conifers with a 20" bar saw, no PPE, no helmet, no ear muffs. D!ck head, leave em to it I say, I'll go and administer first aid when the time comes.
  4. My iveco was ok , just wish I had waxoiled it from new, was terrible for rusting
  5. They always come back for a second time, normally to nick the new kit that you have bought to replace what they nicked earlier. I'm going to try an experiment with the container. At the moment it is stood on concrete blocks, I,m going to jack it up and put rubber pads under so it is not grounded and then connect an electric fence energiser to it. The energiser will be on the inside, connected to a battery. The battery will be cnnected to one of those little solar panels which should keep it fully charged. I just need a guinea pig to try it when I set it up, oh well, I just won't tell the groundie
  6. I need the 1 ton bags but they have got to be ventilated so I can pre fill them and logs don't sweat and fester. I use these for normal one ton bags, buy quite a few and they deliver free http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Centurion-Industrial-Packaging-Ltd
  7. I'm after the same myself and got a quote from http://www.industrialbulkcontainers.co.uk This is the quote I received which I thought was too much to add onto a bag of logs price. Many thanks for your enquiry for bulk bags. I am pleased to confirm price and specification as follows. 90 x 85 x 95cms 4 x 30cms Lifting Loops Open Top Flat Base SWL 1000kgs SF 5:1 Uncoated Fabric 2 sides and base Ventilated fabric 2 sides only Price: £5.90 each plus vat +carriage for 60 lots If anyone can come up with a cheaper price I would be very interested also. Or perhaps a few of us can put in a bulk order to get the price down
  8. I have a pair of Stretch Airs. Every time I take them off and leave them around, our lass grabs them and sticks them in the wash. I must be one of the most well presented Tree Surgeons in the area. How often should / do you wash your climbing trousers and are they designed to cope with such frequent washes. More over is the washing mashine able to cope. I was going to post this thread under Large Equipment, because my chainsaw trousers protect my large equipment, but our lass told me otherwise. Seen as how there isn't a small equipment thread......................
  9. Good climbing there Steve. I'm amazed, 8 minutes to deadwood a tree !!! LOL
  10. Wasn't it, once upon a time, that both fruit trees and ornamentals were exempt from Tpos? But now times have changed??
  11. Maybe unlucky if you ever get divorced, she,ll have your pants down and spank really hard.
  12. The wife has her car, which I borrow every now and again to go shooting or take the dogs out, wish I could jet wash that, you want to see the state of it when I give her back, she goes bent. Picture of all the crap in the back below.
  13. Forgot to put link for pasted text. http://www.hyndburnbc.gov.uk/site/scripts/faqs.php?categoryID=1122&faqID=110#a110 I'd just ring up and ask the local council, better to be sure.
  14. I bet you can't jet wash the inside of the X5
  15. All trees within a conservation area that are above 75mm diameter at 1.5 etres above ground level are automatically protected as though they are covered by a tree preservation order and the penalties are the same as for contravening a tree preservation order. The notification procedures for doing works to trees in a conservation area are different than for a full tree preservation order,
  16. I did a laurel hedge last year where the owner had to obtain permission to reduce
  17. Sounds like pikies Bob. last year they took my trailer, caught on camera, wheel clamp and hitchlock. Took them under a minute. I am really uneasy now when I am working out of site of the chipper, have to take chain and clamp whenever I have a job like that. Will keep eyes and ears open round here for you and pass it on. Is it the same one I have seen Joe using?
  18. yeh, mine was just a bit too slack, you'll know whether you've got it right after a while if you get the wear on the bar underneath just behind the nose sprocket from being too slack
  19. I found mine doing the same, turned out to be not enough tension on chain allowing sawdust in behind the chain and drying the oil up. tensioned the chain more and it performs ok
  20. I have always used stihl and can honestly say I haven't had a problem. Got a 660 and that's been fine. Bought a Husky 357XPG at last years arborist fair, I rate that as well, excellent saw for logging
