  1. No need to do a felling cut, just rip it out, roots n all. Look better with a basket on the end.
  2. Obviously know nothing about trees
  3. After my and my extended families experiences with Lawyers, I have come to the conclusion that IMO they prey on the vunerable and can only be described as proffensional extortionists. This is of course just my opinion My most recent experience was with the Cherry picker accident and the litegation that followed. I was charged £360 per hour for the main Solicitor and £180 per hour for his secretary. If I wanted to up the anti and employ a barrister That would have been £600 per hour plus the dreaded I would like to know of anyone elses experiences and opinions. But keep the thread nice and on an even keel please.
  4. I bought these ladders last year sometime, they have proved to be a stunning bit of kit. When they are up fully, they are rock solid, you feel realy secure on them, I stand on the top rung no problems. They are Little Giant Ladder System Type 1A 6 rung Brilliant for thos sh1tty conifers jobs Some of the repeat jobs I used to struggle with are a breeze with these.
  5. Jesus!! ...and I bet whoever did it walk away chuffed to bits with himself.
  6. Cheers BigGUN My two are fully trained to the gun (when they feel like it) the other two we were looking after for a friend while they were on holiday. Four Springers, what a nightmare
  7. What saddos, I was doing the same yesterday afternoon. A windblown Ash, was going to photograph it and tell you all it was my attempt at a coro cut.
  8. Looking at the first piccy the tree looks nothing until you add yourself to scale it. Looks like a good job to me, I'm going to try some as soon as I get chance. Did you have to winch across the river or just pull the stems back out of the water, nice winch by the way.
  9. Haven't at the mo Mark. it certainly works for a living and has never let me down in the five years I've had it. Mind you, if something even developes a squeek, it is either repaired or replaced straight away.
  10. You'd have to refrain from saying to him, "Looks well now doesn't it after that Crown Reduction"
  11. You know what it's like when your chipping and the load is coming up to full, theres only a small pile of brash left, mmmm, it'll fit won't it and save me a trip to the yard, opening gates etc
  12. Nice to see well looked after tackle Mark. Tractors look in fine fettle
  13. I normally wouldn't put so much on, but I was literally working a few hundred metres away from the yard. Judging by what I have had on before it felt near to two tonne. I have had a measured tonne on before and it felt way over that
  14. Trailer qualification ??? That's an HGV1 isn't it
  15. Take the pillock to court. I bet he had a right stash inside his commode It's like the, "I'm only a pensioner" Next day you see them pulling the Merc out the garage
  16. I lokked at Scheisling at the shows and thought they were a bit tinny, thin metal build? Thats the best place to compare build quality while they,re all in one place
  17. I have reckoned it out at 4 cubic metres if the load was levelled across it would be 1m deep.
  18. What do you reckon this weighs, felt really heavy. I'm going to have to weigh off one day to find out but there are no local weighbridges except the DOT one. Too scared to go there in case they do me. Back is 2.5m x 1.6m and box is 1.6m high Chip was leylandii
  19. Only reason I don't do it in writing is because you always get the lazy ones who don't know how to quote, that advertise "any genuine written quotation beaten". In other words, let averyone come and quote you and I'll come along and knock £20 off to get job.
  20. RQG18 fits thru a 900mm gap. RQG15 is the better option, but they have a set footprint or area the legs need Bear in mind that because of their length they need quite a good area to turn in once they get thru the gap
  21. Your bench saw Mark, lethal!! H&S would have a field day. Your vintage cordwood saw is far more user friendly
  22. Priced a large 50ft conifer take down last week Gave two prices, £175 to halve back to previous topping point and £350 to take down completely. Price to take down completely accepted, did job today, took 6 hours and three loads of waste. Customer rung to say they would not be home to pay and said £300 wasn't it. I said No, £350 No, you quoted £300 definately, £300 to take down and £150 to halve. I new as soon as they mentioned the £150 they were having me over. Nice couple, seemed very genuine. Told them I was 100% certain of my quote and I wasn't getting into an argument, just give me £300 if they are that desperate. When I get the money, we'll see how inconvenienced he feels having to pump his/her tyres back up before they can go to work. Never happened to me before so I am not inclined to put any safe guards in place. You always get one scratter don't you.
