  1. Woolworths Gift Vouchers
  2. No we were not prosecuted- We would have been if HMRC could prove the amount of red we were using-sadly their investigation was flawed due to me hiring out the mog to my landlord at weekends in exchange for free fuel
  3. We fell foul of HMRC on the use of red in our Mog. When the 2 compliance officers interviewed me (under caution) i pleaded ingnorance of the law and used several press articles, yours included, to back up my case, it was they who told me you were miss informed. Simlilar articles were also in Vintage Tractor and Farmers Weekly so i had every reason to believe you and others were correct.
  4. That was an article in Forest Machine Journal with a miss -represented quote from Customs and Excise. The Palimentary White Paper regarding the revised regs say arboricultural work is not forestry and therefore is not excempt from duty on fuel
  5. HMRC have ammended the rules, first phase was April 1 2007, second phase April 1 2008. VOSA have not as a rule been interested in fuel issues, the Police and HMRC can and will dip your tank- the new one is taking a soot swab from your exhaust, with or without your knowledge to determin the presence of rebated fuel
  6. HM Revenue and Customs Oils Policy 3rd Floor Ralli Quays West 3 Stanley Street Salford M60 9LA Speak to these nice people- explain to them what you are driving, what you are carrying and wait for their reply-DONT TELL THEM WHERE YOU LIVE- you may get a visit!!
  7. If you carry a load on the mog, you cannot use red. You will notice HMRC have given exemptions to self propelled crop spraying equiptment and combines in their Revised Hydrocarbon Oil Duty Act. We sold the Mog after they firmed up the rules.
  8. Wonder if shares are available in Atkinson Vos?- Might be worth investing
  9. Looks like South Devon, with those Montery Cypress
  10. So would i at that price
  11. £600 the lot- got to start the ball rolling
  12. Just spoke to a collegue this evening who used to subbie to a company that had several BC1000, he rated them as a good chipper but as Buzz said the fiberglass around the engine is quite prone to damage. Are there any mechanical problems that spring to mind- Belt, bearing, clutch, electrical etc
  13. Got a 12 Tonner to tow it so weight is not an issue. The one we are looking at is on a single axle
  14. The dealer says its a 10-12 inch machine, can it easily handle that size. At the other end of the scale how does it cope with hedge clippings and smaller material- I appreciate your answers
  15. Looking for some advice on whether or not to buy a Vermeer BC1000. What im really after is some feedback from owner/users of these machines.Do they chip well, do they break down, any common faults? We intend to put it out mainly doing back garden work, so it must be able to deal with everthing from take downs to hedge clipping jobs. Honest answers please
  16. The paying from vehicle idea was ill thought out as the cashier only charged for those he could see in the vehicle- not guilty on that one!! but my mate smuggled 4 of his guys in for free. The food was overpriced....
  17. Was 21 at the time and came up from Devon with a 2 mates, spent three and a half weeks clearing windblown timber in Richmond and Bushey Parks, you have neaver seen fires like we had, so close to London. Rest of time spent doing cash jobs clearing trees off houses and out of gardens- only if we could burn on site of course Went home to considerably richer, only for Devon to get hit hard in 89. this time i was working for the County Council, spent 24hrs solid clearing trees from main roads with a Police escort to clear traffic and a JCB to clear timber
  18. Sussex Body Builders have changed their name to Truckcom Ltd, Scaynes Hill, Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Most of ther chip bodies are built from `Glassonite` or Glass faced plywood either 11mm or 18mm thick, very light and very strong. he has built a couple of bodies on 7.5t tippers for us and will always `do a deal` Telephone 01444 831111
  19. The chap selling the Mog had a woodchipper with the correct mounts to fit on yours
  20. Have the Shogun 3.2DiD swb van auto with power upgrade (195Bhp), been a Landy man all my life, still have old 300 Disco van- Everthing the landy does the Shogun will do so much better
  21. Make sure the allen bolt holding the detent assembly on the rear of the spool block has not come loose. It is under the alloy cover on the opp end of the spool block to the control lever. Seen it happen on 2 model 90 and one older 6" Bandit, you still get F N R but not the full oil flow to the motors
  22. Autolift quoted me just under 5k for much larger version of their Land Rover tipper conversion for the back of a U100L
  23. Sorry to hear about your loss, hiabs seem to be fetching good money abroad at the moment and people arnt too bothered where they came from. Have an almost identical unit to yours based on Mercedes 4x4 Merc running gear- Ag registered,pm if interested
  24. I must admit to being a little suprised at a a few answers to deermans question regarding Mog usage. We have owned, modified and run too many of them in the past 20 years. VOSA are in place to ensure the roadworthiness of the of the vehicle not what it can or cant do on the road. Brake systems, lights, steering tyre specs and axle weights are their intersts. HM Revenue and Customs will take a very big interest in what colour diesel you are using in your Mog - speak to your local office for clarification, get it in writing and be very honest with them what you are really using the Mog for. They do not class Tree Surgery as Forestry, so that load of leylandii chip from Mrs Goggins garden hedge on a tank of red may get your pride and joy confiscated- the oness is upon you to prove otherwise, not that easy and may also trigger a complience inspection. A Tax Inspector looking at all your past client invioces with domestic addresses on them wont help your case much. Your local area traffic commisioner is the chap who decides if you need an Operators Licence or not and yes an ag registered Mog may be subject to one- we had one on our 1650 before i sold it. Their interest lies in you financial and technical ability to safely run and maintain your vehicle on a public road. For a more precise answer to your question i suggest you contact the above agencies
