  1. did you find that the visor could chop into your nose a bit? It seems like its not doing in that second pic where you have the log resting on your bonce
  2. Always wanted to do a handstand. Now I have good instructions, my wrists are too knackered to allow it!
  3. Excellent shape though I can't help thinking sometimes that job specs don't take into consideration the natural form of the tree which is why some of the reduced branches have been taken back to thrift growing at a right angle to the branch. It begs the question, what can it be reduced to next time?
  4. Who would be up the creek - the employer or employee?
  5. I hardly wear my stretch air anymore. Lately I'm wearing a thin fleece under a windproof cycle jacket from aldi. When I come out of the tree I put on a thick fleece or rain coat.
  6. I reckon the Hi-flex to be an autumn or spring jacket as its quite breathable and light but not waterproof in the slightest
  7. I see, pretty simple aye!. I just haven't come accross the term before. Thanks

    Maiden

What is a maiden in relation to tree form/shape?
  9. I've seen it done that way but I prefer the overarm throw. If its too hard a throw just get the throwline out
  10. Play around with making different bundle sizes and weights. Compact coils/bundles are heavier because they use the same amount of rope but are less awkward to throw. If its a pretty straight forward throw make the coil so that it will unravell once over the branch. For throws that require manipulation (e.g. densely branched crowns) once it is over the target branch, I sometimes make a fixed coil so that it can be weaved through branches for an unhindered ascent.
  11. The site of the bleeding yew trees I was referring to is Nevern in Pembrokshire. This website shows a picture of the tree but it doesn't look like red liquid here but I have seen it myself down there. Legend has it that the tree has bled ever since a man was hung from it.
  12. Nice one Dean. I think Balmers will sell them then, which is good because we get our kit from there.
  13. What sort of jacket is that Reg? They look good. I still can't make a proper fist from a tiny silky cut I got a month or two ago! Nice work. Very good crane operator too, smooth on the lift and I reckon that makes you more comfortable
  14. That's a big one. Have you seen it excrete red matter? There are some down in a church yard in wales that always have red stuff 'bleeding' out. I'm guessing sap?
  15. I think fletcher stewart sell them or are going to soon
  16. So people generally have a problem with the fit of vertex, particularly on small heads. What about the other mountaineering style helmets? Would be interesting to know if they are any better fitting.
  17. Exactly! Its like working in your sleep so you never get any rest. Good job that was a one off.
  18. Once had a dream I was dragging brash then it got out of hand and I was fighting it but the brash was surrounding me and seemed to be moving closer. Woke up from that one with my heart pounding! I was putting in a lot of hours back then though
  19. Storm damage you could understand but not pruning
  20. I don't have a paypal account. Is there any other way of donating?
  21. Quack said there is no tendon damage but didn't say how long it would take to get better. He did say that if I had hit the bone it would have damaged tendons for sure and I would experience difficulty in moving my thumb in the direction opposite to my complaint! Not sure if he was calling me a fibber or what?!
  22. Its illegal to smoke in a work vehicle here so you would expect that anyway
