  1. Yes Dave I have the left and right types. The thing is they seem really hollow compared to some other earmuffs I have of similar size and snr rating (though these are just the headband type, not helmet mounted). I'm thinking of adding a bit extra foam inside to see what that does but I shouldn't have to. Maybe its just because I've got a small head! Now that I have the MSA mountings, can I use my old muffs from my husky helmet or will they not fit?
  2. Finally tried mine out today - cask helmet with sordin ear muffs, which are bloody massive. I'm not overly impressed with the earmuffs in terms of how much noise they reduce, in fact they don't seem as good as the husky ones on a husky helmet. They seem to sit nice when in use but don't seem to clamp my head quite as snug as the husky ones do. I've gone for the sordin muffs rated to 31 and for the size of the things I'd of thought they would have reduced the noise quite a bit more. I do like the helmet though and as its my first mountaineering style I can immediately feel the difference in how it sits and I'm not constantly lifting the peak away from my eyes. Has anyone else tried the sordin muffs?
  3. Being the tight wad that I am I grumbled at the £4.50 but the photo's are worth it. I look forward to seeing the tv program when it comes out here.
  4. You've lost me weedee! What are you referring to?
  5. Another view Google Image Result for http://edsphotoblog.com/wp-content/photos/800px/0617_treehouse_alnwick_gardens.jpg
  6. Google Image Result for http://www.groovygreen.com/groove/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/treehouse.jpg Has anyone been to this? I just stumbled upon it in google - looks amazing but you can't see how high from the picture.
  7. Yes I saw that alternating method in a youtube vid. Don't know how this would alter the performance though
  8. That's good to know. I live near that council area too. Cheers
  9. Cheers Sihart. Its reassuring reading that. My first suspicion was that it was crafty traders
  10. I suppose so. Especially when they keep getting calls when the car is sold
  11. Nice one steve. Why would a private seller use such a number - or is it not really a private seller? Who knows
  12. What are phone numbers starting with these digits? Do I end up paying loads? I'm looking at a car to buy from autotrader and there seems to be a lot using phone numbers like this
  13. Or burn them on a zip-line aye penfold!
  14. Worked in the school that Michael Jordan's kids went to and saw one of his massive basketball trainers while dragging brash through the school!
  15. Rob is that the Howard hitch in the picture? Steve, that's going off what the guy who was demonstrating it said, but from what I've read on here is seems to be one of the most variable hitches in the arborist's arsenal.
  16. Went through this at the leeds climbing comp. Make sure that the tail end that comes off the top coil is the one that contacts the rope below first (when braiding below the coils). A quick question... I saw the setup you can use if you don't have a hitchclimber but I can't remember it to do it myself. It was done by putting one tail through the micro pulley and terminated with a stopper knot so that you don't have both ends of the friction cord clipped into your main carabiner. I have a petzl fixe pulley but I'm not sure what sort is most suitable in this application. I do intend to get a hitchclimber soon though with oval crabs.
  17. Excellent work. Just looking down the stem at about 6.08 on the second vid, the stem seemed to bend quite abruptly and from that angle it looked a bit 'S' shaped. Was it a tricky section to negotiate - work position wise?
  18. Nice one Dean! Its a pity all the leeds boys snared them Goji berry drinks and delicious yogurt coated cereal bars Grrrr! The winner was Alli (I think - probably wrong spelling so forgive me if you're monitoring this post) - so well done mate. Got a bit of a taste for it myself so you might see me at some future comps, but I've got a lot of fine tuning to do. By the way - anyone wanna buy a STIHL baseball cap? I look a numpty in it cos my head is very small.
  19. Bump - had a good day on this. Was good to meet some new faces and see different climbing styles. Got to appreciate the VT and hitchclimber a bit better now. I think I'll be investing in one.
  20. I've decided to pay extra and get a bigger one. Been looking at the dunsley highlander 7kw. might be an idea to do my fireplace first tree monkey.
  21. So if you get a DEFRA approved one are you more likely to keep the local authorities happy?
  22. I'm a bit confused about the squirrel. There seems to be two models the 1410 and the 1412. Am I right in thinking that the main difference is that the 1412 has a system for reducing the carbon emissions further hence making it better for smokless zones?
  23. I think your on the right track and well done for passing it. Where did you do the course and how many days/cost?
  24. Thought I'd share this link from hort week - its a few snaps from this years Saltex. IOG SALTEX 2009 | Photos | Horticulture Week
