  1. I went to site, me and one man, only me driving. Dismantled this Lime, chipped the brash, loaded the timber and took every thing off site. Please tell me of another vehicle combination that could achieve the same?? In reality a working machine that makes you a good return on your investment is more of an investment than your house. Your comment makes you sound like a sad, bitter, little man who wants a mog, but can't afford one
  2. You can get a U20 with a 170hp engine, mines 240hp, so it would pull my trailer, but it would struggle if it was full. Also the U20 has more overhang at the front, so a front mount chipper is not ideal. Unfortunately none of the new mogs meet my requirement, the bigger ones are all too long, the U20 is nice and short but is less power full than my current machine and with no front chipper I can't take timber trailer and chipper.
  3. Hopping to have a test drive on Thursday, if I get time. It would not really replace my existing setup, but if I changed the way I do things who knows.
  4. Between £60k and £80k. Yes PTO's, hydraulics etc, are all available.
  5. Called in at A C Price today and saw one of these, originally the U20 was not going to be available in the UK, but that has changed and you could now order one. The other good thing is that it was thought that it was going to be a 7.5t machine, giving a payload of only around a 2t, but they are in fact 9.2t, making them much more useful!! They are not cheep, but look really nice and being a mog should hold their money very well.
  6. Just go to B&Q, they sell bags with the logs already in them, saves so much hassle!!
  7. Are you sure?? I did not think the 5.5t and 6.5t Dodge's and Iveco's had air brakes.
  8. Could it have been the 80mph tail wind that caused the ladders to wobble??
  9. Have you used one for any period of time Pete?? They are just so much better. I've used a lot of chippers and Schliesing are head and shoulders above the rest. I don't know why and I guess the other manufactures don't know why either or they would copy what ever "it" is.
  10. Top job!!!! But rather you than me.
  11. Don't think so, you would need to do the brakes and other things too, but then you would need to have it inspected to show it meets all the relevant regs, (as its would have gone over the manufactures design weights) which for one vehicle would not be cost effective. The thing with landys is, the 3500kg ones have pretty much the same parts (brakes etc) as the 3050gk ones. And the 3500kg ones have pasted all the relevant tests. So if you can get your 3050kg to the same spec as a 3500kg, there is no reason for you not to change the plate.
  12. Frank, I think you would be better selling your taring on the skills you will teach them, skills that make them money, through more efficient working practice. Driving instructors make money from teaching "advanced driving". Maybe you could get the insurers to offer discounts to those who have obtained the advanced levels of training??
  13. My "Gaylord" comment was only a joke, Bob does training and is a top bloke:thumbup1: Although I always heard it as "Those who can't, Teach, those who can't even teach, right a book"
  14. But if your wanting to get into training (I had not realize you were a Gaylord) that a good thing, you'll make more
  15. Thats not an "emergency rescue" the guy could have waited while a climber was brought to site from else where, so no real need to have a rescue climber on site:sneaky2:
  16. Surely the likelihood of a skill/qualification being put to use, should have some bearing on the cost and rigor of said qualification??
  17. That Bob would make real sence!!! No point going over old ground.
  18. So would you have them retested every 6 months Frank???? As if they did not climb for 6 months after passing they would soon no longer be up to speed. I say let the commercial pressures police us, the weak soon fail.
  19. Must be great being perfect and never making any mistakes The guy was at collage, learning these things!!! I think its good it happened, I bet no one who was there at the time has ever done it since.
