  1. I did a great deal of research when my eldest son was reaching an age where he would begin to be indoctrinated. Its utter nonsense, with some seriously dodgy history. Getting out of that organisation is one of the best things I every did
  2. Nope never was one. I was a Jehovahs Witness from birth to 30.
  3. Yes, all the time, because I know once its burnt I'll need to cut more:thumbdown:
  4. I definitely have the beginning of it, if I swim in very cold water my hands go numb way before any other part of my body.
  5. Dead elm is a proper test of any chipper!!!
  6. Good for you Your white finger will no doubt be far more advanced than mine
  7. Are you going brand new Jonny???
  8. In fact, if you read my first post in this thread, I did enter into the spirit of the thread and stated what I would change, but then quantified that with reality
  9. Oh!! please forgive me and my factual, practical approach to life
  10. Indeed, thats the very reason I don't run them
  11. IMO, if you are happy with were you are right now, you can't wish you could change any of the past, as that would then leave you in a different place today
  12. Mainly the fact that they are overloaded by morning brew.
  13. If I could go back in time I would get into climbing straight from school, rather than at 24, then I could have travelled the world and see so much………………. But then I would not have married my wife at 20 and have 4 children………………… So on balance if I could have my time over, I would change nothing
  14. That skidder looks every bit of 30 tonne, I never doubted you for a second Stevie!!!
  15. The power of the "talk"!!!!!!!!! most excellent!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. My eldest girl is adamant thats she joining the firm when she leaves school, she's 12 at the moment, she is more than welcome. Her 19 year old bother already works with me. I have no idea how she will hack it??? I'll be honest I really don't think our industry is suited to most girls, but then its not suited to a lot of guys.
  17. Thats tough, making a living is harder than it used to be, but what else can we do???
  18. Ouch!!, but I guess you rates reflect this
  19. Got to say I'm mightily impressed by your positive attitude Andy, its pretty inspirational really!!!! Good for you!!, so many these days look for any excuse to wallow in self pity, not you, top man!!!
  20. A brain would be of more help.
  21. The problem is you need both, turbines have not replaced any of the existing power production, because of their unreliability (the wind does not always blow) we still need all our traditional methods of generating. At the moment (and for the foreseeable future) nuclear is the only sensible option. But the green lobby don't like those either:001_rolleyes: they want to have their cake and eat it, as is their general stance
  22. Not sure its a simple as that. As the OP states the lower speed will reduce draft, which if chipping wet conifer or privet could lead to a blocked shoot. Also less speed will reduce the inertia of the flywheel, the peak torque band will be hit once the chipper is under load, I don't think it wants to start there, because it will be very quickly pulled down below this as soon as its starts working hard.
