  4. my logs are left in rings for at least 12months if possible then split and store to dry softwood i split and leave to the elements then put in to dry after 18 months
  5. yes your right but the sap is dried out so it is still in the wood if you try and displace some of the sap with water. When the logs dry out the water will have evaporated and theoretically there will be less resin to cause the creosoting if temperatures are not high enough.
  6. your right but as i previously posted leave outside to weather then i store to dry i dont meen to burn wet. i may have put it across wrongly
  7. ouch hope it heals ok lesson to learn clean the timber off and leave no pegs sticking out looking at the dried blood around the wound id guess he could have been wearing pants.

  10. the sap is thicker than the water in rain, so getting the wood wet displaces some of the sap therefore when drying there is less sap thus reducing the creosoting in the chimney . The theory seems to work anyway. The Theory of osmosis comes to play
  11. with conifer and pine i always split it leave it to the eliments and then wen water has soaked it i then stack loosely in pallet frames to dry if airy its less likely to go mouldy.

  17. a big no no i wouldnt ever run my kit on heating oil will burn the injectors out its for heating not running engines. its ok mixing it but what happens if you forget ?

  19. i was busy then and haven't had time since so im stuck but i did put the rings undercover so they are fairly dry
