  5. If your serious ill be interested in what you have to say!! I do consider myself a GOOD groundsman, i have been doing the job 8 years now, Worked in most sectors, im confident in felling anything and also working with climbers/ lowering ropes and devices! I was thinking between 18 and 21k a year would be a decent wage, With a view to hopefully going up IF someone takes the time out to teach me to climb better as at the moment my current comapny isnt doing this!!
  6. Good work mate, I like that!!
  7. As above really, was wondering what you guys and girls thought is a good wage for a good, very experienced groundie?? that also has climbing certs. CS38/39 but there climbing needs work. Im talking cards in (Employed) per annum as opposed to day rate!!
  8. I was in Cologne, Germany, a while ago and it was there i first viewed the Plane as a "nice" tree, I have work and loads over here and found them obviously very irritating to work with but on the bank of the river rhine there must of been 40/50 that i saw and they did look great!!
  9. Just gonna bump my thread up!!
  10. Best = working outside, Id still rather be outside in the rain doing tree work than in an office and jesus ive been wet this week Worst = The "can you just while your here customers" I HATE those and as previously mentioned Dogs***.
  11. I had the lowering rope out but it was apparantly quicker to cut and hold! Just a note, i havnt put up this thread to have a dig at my workmate, quite the opposite, was just wondering what the forum thinks!!
  12. Bit of a story behind this. Was at work today, My Foreman went up a Sycamore that was to section fell, there was a fence under it that couldnt be damaged, Anyway he did the easy bits first and i sned it then chipped it, It got to the tricky bit over the fence, He did a few branches with step cuts and then started to hold the branch and cut threw it BUT his fingers were literally 2 0r 3 inches away from the running saw, very very close, How he didnt cut himself ill never know, He is a very very good climber but i thought id mention it as id be the giving first aid, The response i got was "what the F*** do you know youve only be climbing 18 months" Cutting and holding has it place sure but........... Would you guys (experienced climbers) really cut and hold 2 inches from your hand??
