  1. Any one is welcome to watch me work and bad climbers charge to much. A good climber can offer lower prices like me there not slow and know what there doing so dont need to charge more to cover there slow ass.
  2. Rubbish crap climbers still charge more. That guy is spot on go cheap your not doing this to make freinds its business at the end of the day. The smart good climbers are the ones that are willing to go cheap and like it or not people are more interested in price.
  3. I love the tree world i have loads of spare time and enjoy fixing tools and doing quotes im not a nutter. I love working for myself and i cant get enough of the buzz being in a tree on a warm sunny morning due on the grass or in winter frost every where ice cold air thats what i do it for. As we all say in the south it gets in your blood. Plus its a cool job and far more naturel than office bods work. The only problem is theres to bloody many of us thats why we knock the asse out of our prices we should get more but some one else will undercut. People most the time go for price not quality the ones who survice are cheap but good.
  4. Well maybe but still
  5. Some not all insurance companys require proof of inspections all it does is lower your premiums and you can offset the cost against your tax i will end up doing it only f0or tax reasons.
  6. Ok bitches. Its simple maths here the higher you go the more stress and strain no arguements unless we have supermen climbers on here. I dont bother with trees over 100ft because i make more doing smaller trees its as simple as that.
  7. ha ha yeah little girls need block drivers but hey i want one im just plain lazy if it can make life that bit easier.
  8. I inspect my own equiptment at the end of the day im the one using it so im the only one that should have the final say whether its good or not. Common sense its simple why pay some one its total rollocks. Any decent tree feller knows his gear inside and out i learned what to check and how often and my gear has and will never fial me because i check each day i use it.
  9. Hey Been using the hitch climber with a VT for a week now its good but i had 5 wraps 4 twists so it got to hard once broke in now i need to use less wraps did notice a few time would not grip the rope and i had to help it along could be dangerous if not aware. The ocean p sling is a little to short makes desending or releasing slack more timely than the tradtionals i know i need abit more time to perfect it but i see why its used and i may be a new convert.
  10. Hey some cool photo,s there what are the best spikes to get i could use a pair would not have to leave pegs to climb less sodding about.

    Gloves

Just got some new gloves 1.30 each there tight fitting with a rubbery underneath on the palm not bulky grip the tree and saw in the wet smashing so i brought a shed load ha ha.
  12. What are these injection i keep hearing about ?.
  13. I got NE and the end has never stretched out i guess some do some dont. What is the best climbing rope around im for want of new rope and would appreicate your knowledge.
  14. Good luck again Marx is spot on go self employed tree companies love them easier to employ than paye.

    snow anyone?

Lucky git i love snow excuse not to work ha ha. All we get is pissing down rains and cold winds.
  16. Spot on Marc if you wanna get on the tools sooner smaller companies will put you on them alot quicker you have to show your competent and you can only do that by learning. Bigger firms have to many ego climbers and workers who will hold people back cos thats just how some people are. The one pet hate you will find is tree boys are worse than women for bitching at each other. eg snide digs.
  17. Hey Marc what im going to do is use both my variation on the icicle and the VT and see which one works for me. Also trying different ropes and slings im not to busy this side of christmas so gives me time on the jobs i have to play around.
  18. On your test where would this one fail im guessing the back cut needs to be 1-2 inches higher.
  19. Well i got a simple job tommoro so im giving the VT a weeks trial again i done 4 wraps 4 braids been testing it the week end seems ok but does not grip every time so im constantly tuning it. I have to say the icicle is really good when you high up you need to trust your hitch the icicle has never failed me not slipped once even in rain. I think my problem with the VT is the new oceanp its hard rope but after some use its getting more supple.
  20. Call me dumb but what is milking your ropes im guessin not for milk.
  21. Wll thats one way to freak out. Since the 200t is the most used saw at any one time that must cause the most damage. When blocking or snedding you never use the mid saws big saws for more than 20mins well i dont. I guess the trick is more tea breaks lol.

  23. Do a couple of years first you may hate the job after time and college would be a waste of money and time. I agree with marc earn some money work with a company they will if they feel your worth it pay for your courses when you are ready. save some money. Good luck i worked for around 4 years its only now im doin my courses and thats only so i can get into commercial tree work plus insurance will bum rape you with out them.

    Gear

This is my new set up thought id post it my icicle did not work well with my oceanp so i modified it until i got a perfect result lots of grip easy to release.
  25. Hey dont get me wrong im making money not bundles but its buying all my tree gear i just keep them real low to get the jobs cos im a small business its almost all profit plus any thing i spend on the business i enjoy doing. I have always timed myself previous boss was a nob never happy so that where i get my time from yeh when i got down all i did was pack my gear up.
