  1. it depends on the whole situation , but one thing that really gets my back up is if for instance a manager for a larger firm asking for an incentive to pass work on . ive always been firm on winning work through price and ability to do the job , not just bypass others because ill put my hand in my pocket .
  2. who's this then? and no mel wont be on this job
  3. im looking for a home for some oak , taking the whole tree down and looking for someone to pick it up and take it away. too far to drag it home
  4. If you get stuck Kevin pm me and ill give you a mobile number
  5. ill vouch for Blake training , I did my loler there and was pretty thorough , which it should be of course
  6. I think it was a worthwhile question, its always interesting to know how others are finding use of a particular product . I can tell you the very first job we used it on , the guys said it was a great bit of kit moving timber from a beech they had just dismantled out of a garden , wheelbarrows don't cope the same , nor will they ever carry brushwood to the chipper. as for some crazy notion of building one in an hour...........speaks for itself , that soon turned into a couple of day doing the Steptoe run around recycling plants for whatever wheels might be lying about , an odd bit of steel gleaned here and there , the trip to a mate for coating , he obviously is sitting about to fit in friends powder coat when they want...I doubt it. its a good tool designed to do a job which it does very well. I was happy to pay the price to get this readily built and ready to use when I wanted it. not after collecting a handfull of bits and bobs to build my own effort
  7. I was trying to remember the name...yea, goliath. Oregon green felt like walking on air . and they bring back a memory , I remember having to take my boot off in the top of a beech once where the soft sole had wedged in the fork I was standing in
  8. separate add on , I thought it was quite cheap though for £75k cover . that with lycetts
  9. I think that is a great resolution to this that feedback is being pursued but those buttons...........I don't think there was blame being aimed , more of an observation . the fact that you have put a tracked chipper on a work site means that you want to get it into where you are working , hence trying to wriggle it throught trees to be retained etc , thus making any vulnerable part prone to damage
  10. so your saying you have never heard of this on these machines? The link on the safety bar is just not up to the job from what I saw.we dont plough with it or use it to use pulling ropes from.i know exactly what happened on that sight as I was working on that job myself. And the buttons dont get knocked off the tw , as has been said , they are on top. Not so vulnerable. As pointed out that its quick to blame the machine builder , instead of seeing positive criticism, it is assumed all contractors abuse kit. Funnily enough a few of us want machines we have hired to actually work and use them accordingly . If we need a winch we use a winch
  11. well pete the buttons do protrude in a way that make them very vulnerable , as for the nudge bar..we didn't alter it . we actually had to do something else until a fitter had come down to us and fix it. my niggle is nothing to do with wing mirrors or snowy ditches , more a of a view of what I think to be a weak point in the machine . just for the record I wouldn't blame ford or Toyota if id done that...but id be straight back there if the wheel fell off a knew truck
  12. any chipper getting ballast build up in the tracks will come unstuck , the one we hired was brand new the nudge bard linkage on the feed hopper snapped after about 3 hrs , those crazy slap buttons on the side lasted ..oh.....about 10 minutes , when manouvering through trees . and ive heard real bad news about the eltericals on them , however like I said its ability to work on banks is very good
  13. nice idea to build something yourself, as earlier said it cant carry enough for the size of vehicle . I also don't see the appeal for mot exempt , it gives a chance to lapse on keeping it up together and vosa will hammer you if they pull you and its unroadworthy , id also be aware of the rules regarding red diesel . its not always as simple as what "a bloke in a pub said"
  14. im hoping it is a rumour, it would be bad news as we have 190 and still have a 230 . we have hired a 19-28 safetrak before but the manouverability was the only reason I had it in.
  15. ive heard a rumour that greenmech safe trak are going to be the only chipper approved on network rail sites , im not sure if it is a fact or just gossip. just wondered if anyone else had heard about this ?
  16. so what kind of cost was it to do the timberwolf? im presuming a total strip down and chasis done as well?
  17. thanks for the info , ill give Richard Court a try . Failing that ill just get on with it !
  18. do a search on ipaf website they will give details of training providers
  19. ha no breezeblock that one was well and truly killed I did consider it pete but I didn't want it to become "one of those jobs I started ages ago"
  20. Does anyone know of any firms that do chipper refurb ? as close to Somerset as possible . Ive got a tired looking TW150 that is a great working machine , but could do with a tidy i.e stripping down blasting and powder coat / paint . cheers

    exor

Im just looking at our accreditations and am thinking.....why am I still Exor approved , they are more expensive than Chas and Safe Contractor . we will keep SSIP because of Safe Contractor , so Exor seems a bit redundant really . Has this been a thought on anyone else's mind before ?
  22. thanks for posting ill certainly keep a tab on updates, amazing looking place
  23. I didn't realise can you pm?
  24. hi just wondered if anyone knows what happened with the smart winch that steve ibelings had designed. it caused a bit of a stir but I havnt heard anything much about it since . any know stockists or anyone bought one and what they thought ?
