    No slack

exactly bruda' thats what i said too
  3. soft eye works heaps better than the ring alex. i think the other ART pulley is cheaper than the cocoon too but the cocoon is a damn fine pulley!

    No slack

some people reckon the bend ratio is too acute and therefore can weaken the rope. Compared to the pin inside the cocoon though, the bend ratio is nothing. You could use 2 revolvers opposite each other or a standard crab and pulley.
  5. No probs BUT the whole unit has no CE mark (not needed in NZ). The individual components do apart from the splice (which is tested, a lot) so not sure what loler would say. But if you want one then can always send the bits so you just assemle yourself-sling, cocoon, spliced eye rope, etc....
  6. and flake your ropes into a bag or tarp at the end instead of coiling it up.
  7. Ideally the best way would be to buy a lanyard! if not take off 1 prussik and run all the way through. or throw one end over branch and run rope over it and youll see the twists unravel themselves, if its really twisted you might have to do this more than once. Buying a lanyard will be easier though.

    No slack

as jono said.............but i reckon it should be sweet. I cant see how putting it through a ring is any better (bridge ring) or through a swivel. any other opinions?

Yeah bro, its pretty much all i climb on now. As long as your not resetting ya anchor often its a brill system-use it branch walks, ascending etc... If your using the o rig id recommend swapping the ropeman for a 30cm sling. But the uni is a whole different game but can still be setup slackless.........

    Unicender...

Just spent a bit of time playing on the uni with jono and its a pretty amazing bit of gear. I was a bit of a sceptic before i saw jono using it at speed but im now ready to be convinced. The ability to frog walk using it and work off the same line without unclipping one carabiner is such a bonus over the ascension croll combo. It takes abit of getting used to and a few improvements are there to be made but its just awesome. The only limit is how fast your prepared to go and just trusting the weird looking thing. Easy to turn into Dbrt system for long branch walks, if any one gets the chance to use one for a while i definetly rwcommend it. It flys on velocity rope. Pics are of work setup, to do a big ascend you just clip an ascension with foot loop above it and pantin on other foot-for small ascents just footlock or pantin.

    Lanyard

Nope! what gets me is how someone worked it out in the first place. ill stick to normal double braid, 16 strand and kernmantle for now.

    Lanyard

i know what ya mean bro but its all good practice! and all my saw lanyards are spliced now, pole pruner cord etc.... at least in NZ you dont have to worry about splicing for others as the regs are way different. If your bored try the Samson DPX-75/Turbo-75 splice- its a double braid splice witha difference!!!!!!!!!

cheers steve, and a nice setup there bob:001_smile:
  15. no its heritage ground, thats the crater rim of an extinct volcano so that soil has never been moved but i agree thats what it looks like.
  16. Another Oak that fell over on a nice day, tree was in full leaf with no exterior signs of decay or fruiting bodies. This one wrote off 5 cars and luckily no one wa hurt. Thats 4 in the last year that have come over in the CBD.
  17. My friends Paul McCathies company, The Good Leaf Tree Climbing company. Rec climbing. no idea where on the isalnd but its there somewhere.

    Lanyard

what rope is scorch bro? dont get it here
  20. DrewB

    Lanyard

what rope is that bob? looks double braid but the splice on the pulley looks flat like a 16 strand splice-im sure its just the camera angle though. very neat btw.
  21. she told him too run WITH sharp objects!

    gloves

Anyone tried the Harken yachting gloves? supposedly indestructable
  23. A new NZ designed harness is to be available soon made by Aspiring Enterprises. See the Treetools website for more info. Not sure if it could be used outside of Aus/NZ due to no CE mark but thought id post about it anyway. Will be about half the price of the european harness'.
  24. stop being tight, buy the ad and then buy a ropeguide
  25. not sure if this is what you meant rob but this is what ive been playing with for a while, stops the potential for the pulley to slip through the lge spliced eye by using two revolvers instead. If using a cocoon the traditional RG way then ive been playing with choking the rig down and found it retrieves exactly the same. I think the pictures will make sense. Im posting the pics after talking with Chris Cowell about the shock load potential if the cocoon pulls through the eye due to the thinness of the webbing.
