    Is it too easy?

Lantra do training NPTC do assessments anyone can do a Lantra course and get a cert that says they have done a _ day course covering x y z even though they were crap and never got the hang of anything or even listened The NPTC assessment is a proof of competency which is generally required as PUWER states Qualified and competent That was the big change after the blue book days as in blue book days you did a course and the instructor passed you and no one failed P.s i have 2 blue books 1 for felling and 1 for climbing
  7. i climb on both they are different full stop personally i prefere the spider but lockjack is generally more common

    Is it too easy?

personally the one i would like to make harder is 41 dismantling It really does not cover enough and no rope knowledge or shock loading and not even knowing how to set up a capstan although i totally agree if they were harder we may be seen as a more professional industry with fewer nuppets The Big change i would like to see in the industry is we are advised to do updates every five yrs which rarely happens. If the Update was also an advanced and cave you a 2nd level and 5 yrs later a level 3 ect folk may advance more and experience would actually be respected and earn't

will try to explain my thoughts Aerial rescue teaches them the basics I would not let a newly passed 38 holder be the person i relied on to be the appointed rescuer Although legally they can I would get them up to a standard that satisfied ME I hear of and see so many folk out there not having a competent rescuer Thats there choice but often it,s down to cost,s involved in training so make the standards higher and the training will go up In essence the problem is often folk think they are qualified but very often not competent and usually young lads that think there gods gift to treework

  13. can you spell PUWER Thats what it would come under if you really want to next you will be wanting your gloves done as they are used to pull you up a tree:confused1: or your hands what about how your belly supports your beer glass
  14. Basically it,s a bill of quantities and allows them to decide which company they are going to use ie 1 might say fell it 1 might say dismantle 1 might say use a mewp I know which of those i would choose Also if they do not check what your doing and that your qualified and working to Industry guidance ect and something went wrong the guy that authorised the job is in for a right kicking This is 1 reason we try to avoid contractors as we are responsible for what goes wrong:blushing: even though we are not there:thumbup:
  15. Spikes are now lolerable I have been a loler inspector since 98 and did not used to do them. I did an update last year and they are now included although obviously just making sure all straps ect are in good working condition.
