Most reputable main dealers will diagnose the issue for a set fee, then you can decide who resolves the issue. EG. Main dealer VW £90 all in where I live. Call the main LR dealer and ask. Good luck.

Hire will be best for you then unless you are into serious quantities and have a base machine for the Lasco cone splitter. Google it if you are interested. Like all 'non roundwood' timber, its pot luck what size logs you get out the processor combined with lots of rubbish, which is where an inline screener pays off.

Are you not keen on a Lasco? Then you won't be limited on length.

The splitters are actually rated at as high a psi as the tractor will produce having tested its output. Easier to connect to spool valves on both splitters in this instance and use tractors relatively large hyd oil sump. I expect to hear from Treequip again on the topic, as for sure he consistently gives great advice. May be a futile excercise but that is why I posted initially.

Can you actually get 2.5 m3 bags out of a tonne of Ash? Everyone else in the UK seems to think only 2m3 is realistic.

Poster called 'JUSTME' - thought I wanted to keep the 2 splitters electric - No we want to disconnect existing electric splitter's electric motors and pumps and run new 1/2" pipework direct from tractor hydraulics to splitters spool valves.

Sorry, we were considering using the existing tractor hydraulics to run 1 or 2 splitters. Planned to scrap the existing pipework and just keep the spool valves on the splitters. I would need to check the spec on the existing pumps on the 2 splitters - they are v small though.

Has anyone out there experience of connecting 2x 7 tonne electric splitters to a 35HP tractor hydraulics - with a max flow rate of 20 ltrs/min at PTO speed? I accept specific hydraulic regulators may need to be purchased etc. The tractor is fitted with a pair quick release hydraulic couplings already.

The reason to run off tractor is to increase the flow rate to rams on splitter as just painfully slow as they are. Disconnecting existing splitter pumps completely.

Round these parts those advertising Firewood appear to consider it clever to undercut those who are sensible enough to try to raise the base price, especially for hardwood. Hardwood should be 100/tonne minimum and we should all stop offering 100% hardwood - those in the business all know the many reasons why. If everyone used their intelligence they would realise that they should all be reading from the same page - that way we all win as we start getting a realistic price for timber and those mechanically and manually harvesting the crop make a half decent living also. At the moment most of us are just static due to the overheads of running our respective businesses and if something large goes bang, we are inclined to think - is it worth it.
