  1. They are over £400 now. Lot of labour to make your own, running around for components etc. so agreed worth the money to improve the finished product. They are certainly well built as I found out when I tried to pick one up at the AA Trade Fair. We thought about raising processor and tractor by 300mm or so.
  2. That setup pretty much ticks all the boxes - handles oversize, processes, screens and loads. Will the crane set up feed the splitter and processor at the same time? Did you buy screener same time as processor off JAS of did was it fitted to your previous Posch. They seem expensive, but do you find the grid as too short to sift out the debris or perfect and worth the money? Thanks
  3. I have heard of many people making their own Processor Screeners - anyone got any pics of theirs?
  4. JAS P have them in stock, but the price may put you off, although they are good build quality.
  5. Sure, not the easiest of sites and now the rain is here. Hope it all goes to plan.
  6. Fair comment. Fortunately you have the in-house equipment already and timber available to perhaps support a business model that gives a worthwhile return over the longer term.
  7. Wow! 15m3 hardwood into rings in 2.5 hrs - hope he can keep it up.
  8. Those robust galvanised Logosol jacks are a bargain at the price! Very surprised more people don't use one - extremely versatile also. If you can't find one John, we'll come and tip those 'leaners' over for you and take them away as well for free!
  9. How will you crosscut the massive amount of large diameter timber that is required to process to make the purchase of this machine a viable investment?
  10. Not sure that the maths does give the result that you are hoping for. We are looking at an insane amount of crosscutting oversize timber to a consistent length, then individually loading each ring into the machine. A contest with the Rabaud F80 VERSUS a Posch 360 with log deck, sub 300mm Roundwood and experienced operator - there will be no photo finish - Posch every time. Agreed the F80 has its place somewhere, quality build - but for the very very few, not the mass market.
  11. At around 30K with conveyor, the return on your investment will never stack up unless you have around 3 teams bring back oversize constantly. Also consider the Tractor HP to run it and a loading unit with grab. So easy to go down the same route as farm contractors, with 100's K's of machinery and an annual net profit of less than a builder's labourer (no disrespect to the BL's)
  12. If delivering around Plymouth yes. anywhere else forget it as transport makes it uneconomic.
  13. Or he may be a start up who knows no better. He could actually benefit from you having a chat with him.
  14. Tunnels far better than bags - need to know Planning legislation if you wish to sleep well.
  15. Chip ave. 1/2 t / m3 Hardwood 1 t / m3 Hope that helps - just a guide of course.
  16. Oooh Solicitors! - why not track the bloke down and have a chat in the 1st instance.
  17. Bags would be my last choice for drying logs, we don't dry the washing in bags either - perhaps think about it yourself. Good luck.
  18. Can't comment on your patch but no it's not you. I friend of mine had someone with a similar name to him pasted on a white transit was seen doing work on an estate he manages - never caught up with the white van though. Nothing against 'free enterprise' but I think you need to track this fellow down asap and agree a solution to protect your business.
  19. This is where I sent our team - ex army gortex. For the money nothing out there to touch it. Need to regularly to Nikwax it in the W Machine though.
  20. What would you say is the average weight of a load of Hardwood on an 8 wheeler timber lorry?
  21. Not as difficult to register as claimed. In addition depending on where your principles sit - your partner/wife/husband or whoever owns the woodland gets the cert. and you buy off them - simple as that. Provided you are both reg. as self-employed that's it - no need to overcomplicate in this case as all of this is relative elementary.
  22. I am just thought someone may make a list of 10 different extraction rates for different sites - having discarded those rates which are high / low extremes - divide by 10 to give an approximate average price.
