Does anyone have info on their trading status?
  2. It was many, many years ago.. But I rocked up in Christchurch with my tickets but less than a years experience. I got a job with a small firm (treetech was only 3 guys then) but left pretty quickly as they wanted someone who knew what they were doing. I got another job the next day with city care and had a great 6 months working for them. I still regret returning to the UK.
  3. Maybe I am synical but it reads like something an Internet marketing company would write to push traffic to a Web site. It is from a new user. I would be amazed if it was cheaper to ship goods from the UK to the states and I am not sure I have ever seen a generic "discount code" for any arb supplier.
  4. Is this not some fake advertising post by gudtharts.
  5. THREATS, is another one to look at. I find it nice and simple to use. Forbes-Laird Arboricultural Consultancy http://www.flac.uk.com
  6. There are quite a few 130s about at the moment. This fits your requirements. When I started advertising there were few on the market and those advertIsed for silly money. I didn't really want to sell but I would if I could get crazy money. I dropped the price several times down to £10k but still not much interest. Prices looked to have dropped and far more on the market now. 2013 Land Rover Defender 130 Tipper Truck cab 2.2 TDCI Arborist tipping body 4x4 WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for 2013 Land Rover...
  7. To be honest from the adverts I saw I thought it would be worth a lot, but we have not had much interest. Had I known I probably would have not bothered spending so much fixing the chassis and bulkhead. Feedback from some has been we need to spend even more to make it look smart, but I am not sure I want to put more money into it in the hope of making a return. I am not a used car dealer... It has basically be sat for the last 2 years hardly doing anything. If someone wants it I will sell but I might just hang on to it and see if the US exportable market is a thing.. It needs the original chassis and engine which it has, but I think to be actually valuable it needs to be the crewcab tomb raider look.. https://youtu.be/dpFjdm1VdHg
  8. Ours is a 2000 and done 110k. But it is a genuine vehicle that will probably still be on the road in another 20 years... Exportable to the US in a year or 2 so we might just park it up..
  9. Rates of pay dependant on what you bring to the table. Give me a call or send me a CV. [email protected]
  10. Multitel have said its a no.. A crane/mewp sounds like a good option..
  11. Has anyone used tracked MEWPs as an overhead anchor? I have used a vehicle mount in the past when spraying bunkers. In that case it was only there as backup but we have to remove some vegetation from a derelict building and would like to use the MEWP above as an anchor allowing us to work below using a rope and harness. It would not be used for lifting and no weight other than the climber would be applied. It would be useful to actually abseil off the MEWP down into the building. The waste could go out from the bottom once cut. The IPAF says not recommended and only in "exceptional circumstances" with express written approval of the manufacturer. (I have emailed the manufacturer) https://www.ipaf.org/sites/default/files/2022-02/Do not use MEWPs as an Overhead Anchor (TE-997-0721-1-en).pdf
  12. My first post listed the main benefits as I see them. I am no zealot for the arb association but as evidence of its worth: From a Borough Council tender: 2.2.2 In order to be considered for this Contract, Suppliers must be for the lifetime of the Contract, an Aborcultural Approved Contractor. You might see it as an old boys club, but it is a club that anyone can join and there are benefits of being a member.
  13. You will not get a clear view on a web forum about the Arb Association. Some people are very anti it and can be VERY vocal and will become abusive and unpleasant and any discussion online normally ends in personal attacks. That seems to be the norm on web forums these days.. In my opinion there are very few people who care enough about the Arb Association to defend it against the sort of abuse you are likely to receive if you were to stick your head above the parapet to do so. In my opinion being an Arb Approved contractor is unlikely to do you any harm and there are a number of benefits as mentioned in my previous post. It is not perfect but I believe the benefits outweigh the cost. I would recommend you do not take to much notice of the naysayers, call Paul at the AA, have a chat and see if it works for you.
  14. It is unlikely to make a difference with Mrs Miggins, who wants work doing for the cheapest price. It is a requirement for many councils and some larger organisations so is a necessity if you want that work. More informed (and arguably less price conscious) customers who want to instruct a company will be comforted knowing they are employing a professional company that has ticked lots of boxes. It is a fantastic way to ensure you are audited by an external company and that if things go pear shaped and you end up in court you can say you were working to best practice (nice to know if you are the employer). You get some nice stickers for the trucks. You get emails letting you know about tenders for tree work. It is NOT easy, you need to get lots of systems in place and the assessment day can be a very uncomfortable experience as someone will spend a day highlighting all the things you are not doing right. I think it is worth it. Others do not.
  15. NEW LAND CRUISERS – RHAS WWW.ROWLANDSANDHORDONAUTOMOTIVESOLUTIONS.COM Looks like you can get new lez compliant Right hand drive Land cruiser 70's.
  16. That makes sense. I always wondered why it existed as it did. To my mind the web based forums like arbalk were much more useable. I only used to occasionally look in on it, it is a different crowd from what you get here. Some very knowledgeable people especially re the legal side and often ended up in the archive when searching online.
  17. The forum is still running there are a few posts most days although over 20 today.. The archive has gone I believe. There was discussion about the archive being moved over to arbtalk, I guess that was not discussed with you Steve.
  18. Not used myself but lots of discussion about diesel heaters on this facebook.com forum LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 110 130 & SERIES OWNERS CLUB | Facebook WWW.FACEBOOK.COM For those who are lucky enough to own the "Best 4x4 by far".

  22. Currently in negotiations with insurance. So trying to figure out if it's worth buying from them.
  23. I posted this on facebook, but thought I would add it here as different crowd. Any one interested in our "slightly" singed BC1000XL. Its a 2014 model, 550 hours. £64K + VAT if you wanted to order one in 2023. It was damaged by a fire in a container next to it. It was never actually on fire itself. Vermeer provided a report for the insurance but there are some pretty big ticket items on that list that I don't think are needed to get the machine operational. There might be other issues but we cannot test it in this state. We would be interested in part exchanging it for another chipper preferably tracked if any dealers are interested drop me a message. Interested to know what general people think its worth so feel free to discus but if you have an actual offer please email it. [email protected]
  24. I believe I can resubmit unit 2 if its a fail, hopefully with guidance from course tutors.
