I was surprised at the level of fundraising that they have organised over this! Prints of dendrochronology on everything from t shirts to postcards, and back again! They really got into the felling for money! Don't know why they had not collected the sycamore keys and grow them and sell the saplings rather then beg over phone pads and pictures which are cock all use!

  12. Members of this group! It is with a heavy heart and a huge amount of sadness that I can confirm that I recently resigned from GreenMech after 27 years and a previous 5 years as an owner! I have yet to organise a new position but can only hope that it is as fulfilling as associating with you bunch! I wish you all good health and happiness going forwards and heartfelt thanks to my colleagues over the years and to you folks as supporters of the brand! I have many, many good friends among you and many memories of good times and bad, triumph and tragedy, wins and losses, stories and tales. I'll continue to post on here and ask that you post too! The community is not limited to owners but interested parties, not limited to sales posts but to humour, information and help in any measure! Best wishes to you all and cheers to a fulfilling future! 20. My Grandad had a love of guns, he was a sniper at Ypres in WW1. Post war, he was either poacher, loader or keeper on the local estate, depending on the occasion. He also ran a gun club and shooting range at one point. I can remember various cartridges etc in pots, ashtrays and piles around his place. He ran the local Post Office too, back when they didn't sell anything apart postal stuff. After he died at home in the early 80's, his children met to empty the house. In the big walk in cupboard/room under the stairs, casually hidden under a pile of Post Office clothing/coats etc they found 6 x Martini Henry action .22 rifles, a 410 garden gun and a single shot walking stick 12 gauge. A couple of air rifles were also present. The local Bobby was approached who visibly blanched and basically suggested that as unlicensed and unregistered, the implications were pretty awful to all concerned, him included! A grave was dug up in the orchard and, apart from the airguns, barrels first, these were knocked in with a sledge! Prayers were said and the hole filled. Later that night, a fair bit of ammo fell into the canal near the lock gates. The next year, the canal was drained to mend the locks and the finds caused a stir locally. I must get that airgun in my wardrobe registered too! Almost brand new and in a box! I am the current custodian as mother has laid a claim to it! What she wants it for I don't know!
