For rope to winch attachment assuming mid-line tying; alpine butterfly, quick to tie but can tighten under heavy load still easier to unpick than a fig 8 or either variant of bowline on a bight. Can't really explain why but tend to use alpine butterfly if setting up a pulley system and a bowline on a bight if using the landy's winch.

Yep looks like the road up to Wasdale Head, the NT campsite wasn't to bad but a bit of a trek to the Wasdale Inn when it isn't so sunny, haven't stopped at the site over the road from the inn.

The last pic by the river gives only a hint of how steep the slope was, thank the lord for the winch.

Mainly on 30m Blaze with VT and hitchclimber and a 2.5 ish m Blaze strop with VT and micro pulley. System works consistently wet or dry, well generally, until the rope get covered in algal slime off sycamores.

Anyone stopping at the C&C site or sh... the stile cop car park should take their bike, quick play on stile cop then up the valley bottom for a couple of hundred metres to next fireroad on right upto ridge top and the last couple of sections of the Monkey trail, that should sort your hangover out.

Got to agree with SWB about the geckos, gaff is reasonably safe from accidental damage unless some one goes out of their way and walks them over junk; quick tickle with a flat file and biting like new.

Does the bouldering wall on the rhs as you walk in still exist? Used to climb there about 16 years ago, worth the journey from Bridgend for the evening.

I'd have to agree with the concensus on the ident; quite a few ailanthus in Coventry. Whether the thing in the photo could be described as a tree is another matter, can grow into quite attractive trees but that truly is fugly.
